Udupi, Apr 16: The residents of Kaup blocked the movement of water tankers that were supplying water to ISPRL project site at Padoor, near here, on Monday April 16.

The protesters alleged that the water sourced from the neighbourhood is already straining the natural resources at a time when rains are delayed which has further worsened the situation.

The protesters blocked nearly 7–8 fully loaded water tankers and were on the way to the project site.

Kalattoor Jan Jagruti Samiti convener Shivaram Shetty Payyar, JD(S) district president Deviprasad Shetty, Majoor gram panchayat president Ganesh Shetty, Kalattoor Nityanand Shetty, Samiti office-bearers Praveen Kumar, Satish Shetty, and Kishore Kumar led the protest.

Meanwhile, the protesters also laid a road blockade for a multi-axle truck that was carrying a mega crusher unit to the ISPRL project site.

My humble suggestion is for MCC to supply these industries with recycled drainage water, instead of fresh water, which needs to be supplied to the local population on priority.

Due to water, power and politics the investors might leave Karnataka for neighboring states like AP/Kerala/TN for good. Then, why this forthcoming GIM to be arranged.Karnataka's main problem is water supply and acute shortage of power. These two burning issues should be tackled before soliciting any sustainable or any other investments.(last GIM,Reddy's 40000 crore investment has no address!!!!)

ISPRL,did underestimate WATER scarcity in and around undivided DK/Udupi for which Govt of Karnataka is solely responsible.Drinking/Potable water supply lies in the hands of Local Admin which is a hard task under the circumstances...Therefore,the controversial ISPRL project management need to be patience and cautious about the subject "WATER CRISIS"
