Riyadh: Lancy Moras Nite Regales Crowd on Konkan Carpets' Decennial Event

Media Release

Riyadh, Apr 17: It was a red letter day for the Konkani speaking crowd in Riyadh, as they witnessed triple celebrations. Under the sponsorship of Jolly Friends group and Konkan Carpets Association, for the first time ever in the history of Riyadh, Easter celebration, Konkan Carpet Association's decennial celebration, and 3rd musical nite by Lancy Moras – a triple celebration - entertained the Konkani loving crowd in Riyadh.

The day’s celebration was initiated with a short opening prayer at 8.30 am followed by Mangalorean style breakfast. Thereafter, it was time for the crowd to participate in various outdoor games that were well organized by Godwin Mendonca Mudarangady and Austin Menezes Miyar.

Konkan Carpets’ decennial celebration was launched with a welcome song sung by the members of the Konkan carpets association. Chief guests of the event Eric D’Sa Pangla, Lancy Moras Jeddah, Konkan Carpets’ leaders Stany Aranha and Anselm D’Souza Brahmavar; inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

Savitha Aranha Shirva, on behalf of Konkan carpets association, welcomed all and gave a brief introduction of the guests. Stany Aranha, the most dynamic member of the Konkan Association presented the mission, vision, goals and objectives of the association and the criteria to be a member of the association. Anselm D’Souza, the creative member of the association presented the reports including the accounts statement and the accomplishments they had during the past ten years. At the same time, members of the association were presented with mementos. On behalf of the association, Valerian Korea proposed vote of thanks. Eden D’sa compered the programme in Konkani dialect and regaled the gathering.

The second event for the day was 'Easter Celebration' that began with a Konkani Hymn “Alleluia, Alleluia… Christh Mornanthlo Jeevant Zala…” Laveena Rodrigues Shirva, led the short and sweet Easter prayer service in Konkani. Savitha Aranha conveyed the Easter Message to the crowd. On the occasion of Easter celebration, pick-and-speak competition on Easter related topics for children below 16 years of age was conducted. Winners were given prizes. Edmond Lewis Sastan and Jyothi Renita Sequeira Jeppu, compered the event.

Then it was time for dinner. Benedicta D’Souza Kanjoor Marg, recited the prayer before the meals in Konkani. In keeping up with the Managalorian tradition, Micheal D’souza Kanjoor Marg, offered the “Uttakacho Chembu” to the crowd and Henry Gonsalves accepted it on behalf the crowd. Very delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes were catered by “Mashal Restaurant Riyadh”, which was relished and cherished by the crowd.

It was time for the most awaited event of the day “The 3rd Musical Nite by Lancy Moras” which took off at 3 pm. Eric D’Sa and Anita D’sa welcomed the chief guests. Small children with their gorgeous outfits escorted the chief guests to the stage by procession to the music of our own very typical Mangalorean band. The chief guests on the dais were well-known Konkani hymns and songs composer and singer from Jeddah, KSA, Lancy Henry Moras, singer, dancer, choreographer, compere Eden D’Sa who bids adieu to Riyadh Saudi Arabia to pursue her higher studies at St Aloysius College, Mangalore, Stany Aranha, a well-known compere, the most dynamic, energetic and active member of the Konkan Carpets Association who is leaving to India for good, and Jovin Feerao, an active member leaving Saudi Arabia to pursue his higher studies in India.

It was the little kids’ melodious tender voice that sang one of Lancy Moras’ hymns from his first album “Moriye Mujah Mogali Mayee” while the guests were on the stage. and Vincy Jyothi Sanctis Shirva, Remey Lobo Deralakatte, and Roland Ida D’Souza Kalmadi, and Jerry Mary D’Souza Mudarangady honored the chief guests with mementos and flower bouquets. At the same time, “Milan Mogache” Vol – II CD of Lancy Moras was unveiled by Thomas Moras Nirude and and Benedict Maria Mathias Shirva. More than 100 CDs were sold out on the spot.

The most special moment of the day, Lancy Moras Nite initiated by Lancy himself emerging from the crowd and singing the sensational number “Mai Ghancho Ugdas” which received thunderous applause. A total of 11 songs were sung to the crowd from the album “Milan Mogache” by the Mangalorean artists from Riyadh. While foot taping rhythms made the audience to rock the floor, sentimental numbers “Maicha Dudache Mol, Tujah Fonder, Mai Ghancho Ugdas.” moved the audience in tears.

In between the songs, the comedy skits brought the audience to a great laugh buster, and the foot tapping dances from the little children to the Konkani and Bollyhood numbers stole the hearts of the audience. Spot games were conducted in between the program. The whole event was beautifully compered by Stany Aranha Paladka and Anita D’sa Pangla with their witty humor.

Sponsors of the program were honored with flower bouquets. The programme concluded with a Konkani Non Stop Baila, to which the audience tapped their feet and rocked the stage. No doubt, Konkani speaking crowd in Riyadh had a memorable day and were privileged to witness the first ever Konkani Musical Nite in Riyadh.

The artistes of the cultural programme were Michael D’Souza, Benedicta D’Souza, Dolphy Moras, Jyothi Sequeira, Godwin Mendonca, Austin Menezes, Sunitha Sequeira, Clinton Rebello, Stanley Cardoza, Stany Aranha, Alwyn Crasta, Rohan Mendonca, Edmond Lewis, Eric D’Sa, Anitha D’Sa, . Eden D’Sa, Bevan Mathais, Rachael Sanctis, Neelan D’ Souza, Ashlyn Rodrigues, Eldrin Sequeira, Caron D’Souza and Elita D’Sa.

Flying all the way from Jeddah to Riyadh being the most beloved fan of Lancy Moras, I myself witnessed the whole day event. Awesome and I am tottaly speechless. Such a fabulous throughout event, all valued credit goes to Konkannghar and Konkan Carpet organisers.

A cultural program including Lancy's 3rd Konkani musical nite took me to my childhood happiness. His each song was meaningful, the lyrics and tunes will prove his God given talent. The skits blown, the dances choreographed by well talented lil angel Eden D'Sa will prove the complete fabulously organised event.

I am happy to write that I was present in person to watch a true cultural programme that too in Saudi Arabia.

Eric & Family, a true GEM kind of family, I ever grateful to you for a far better hospitality you had proveded throughout my stay for my first ever visit to Riyadh. God bless you with his countless blessings.

From the profundity, my white heart express gratitude to the well clean hearted or perhaps most well organized organizers "KONKANNGHAR" and "KONKAN CARPETS" for picking me for a splendid Konkani first musical show in the history of Saudi Arabia that too in Riyadh a beautiful capital city. Here, I am aware of my first contractual obligation to thank my Heavenly Savior for making me a full pledged KONKANI SINGER. I am extremely euphoric and now I have a huge number of aficionadas around the Konkani Global Community world and needless to say my mental picture is being incalculably fulfilled. Should I be proud today for performing a first Konkani Musical Nite in such a constrained Saudi Arabia Country?

I will not be flawed if I say God is so kind to His mankind. Hence herewith I swear an oath to linger His faithful earthly servant for gifting me a TRUE HEAVENLY SUCCESS in my musical life.

Myriad Godsends to one all who in love and affection occupied the prearranged chairs and eye witnessed the complete days occasion filled with loadz of ecstasy.
