Udupi : 'Politics' in Free Water Supply

Ashwath Kumar - Gangolli

Udupi, Apr 17: Our politicians, irrespective of party, have finally played true politics in supplying free water for the needy around Udupi region.

Several places, especially villages around the district are facing water scarcity. While some of the businessmen have been supplying water for free through tankers without any noise or publicity, our politicians have padded-up to help people, but not without gaining political mileage, with eyes fixed on next year's assembly election.

If one party, immediately after winning the Lok Sabha bypoll, and sensing great chance to score in next year's assembly election, immediately got into the field to supply water in some region with tankers. The catch - the tankers looked more like propaganda vehicles with big banners and photographs of the donor politician.

The other party, which lost the by-election, stepped up to help the 'thirsty' people almost 15 days later, fearing that people might throw them out, if they do not approach the people to solve their 'water' problem at least for the time being. And there was also the question of 'competition' from the rival party!

We will leave it to the readers to decide who is right or wrong, but do we need big banners while donating water to the poor? At least this time, politicians could have spared the 'publicity stunts' and done some sincere social service, if not for the people, at least to please the almighty.

Let them compete with each other and let other parties also join in this race. As long as they supply water to poor people I don't have any problem. Whatever their intention, final action should be good. Let us see the ACTION. Let God see the intention!

These politicians are very narrow minded and think of only temporary situation to tackle. They supplied water this time due to election, what about next time ? Instead of all this drama, why don't they put up some big projects or bigger suggestions to get a permanent solution this problems ? It is sad they they use their brain only for election purpose & for pulling others legs, not for the welfare of people. Did they made any suggestion for solving electricity problem permanently ? OR just thinking to borrow it from neighbour states ? These people do not have any guts to think of or to implement anything new. Cheap act..

They are not interested to make arrangements through pipeline may be because they cannot put banners. Publicity require source tankers are the best source for publicity. Anyway ppl gains benefit through this water appreciate the work of supplying water to the needy.

Match ended with a tie. When is the super over?

This is a very good sign although every thing is done for publicity. Good sign because the politicians realised now that the voter observes everything and can change the loyalty anytime.

There is nothing wrong if politicians do goods work with publicity as silent work will never yield them success although God knows everything.

If politicians do not go for publicity, then, they are out of business.

Please don't buy the water to sell it to the people in the name of publicity. Water is a natural resource and it is not belong to any political parties. There may be a water shortage in the town at Udupi, but people who reside at villages have their own arrangements for the water supply. Politicians dirty claim for the publicity never spared any minerals in the country at least spare the Water and Air for god sake...
