Five New Priests Ordained for Diocese of Mangalore

Five New Priests Ordained for Diocese of Mangalore

Fr Victor Vijay Lobo
Director, Canara Communication Centre

Mangalore, Apr 18: Five deacons for the diocese of Mangalore were ordained priests on Tuesday April 17 at 9.30 am by Dr Aloysius D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore diocese.

The ordination ceremony was held at Our Lady of Rosario Church here in the presence of near and dear ones of the newly-ordained and hundreds of devotees. More than 100 priests, nuns and religious brothers and sisters were present on the occasion.

Bishop in his homily highlighted the need of vocations today. He gave a call to the gathering to pray for the vocations so that the community may get more young men and women to serve the Lord and carry on his mission in the Church.

Later the newly ordained priests concelebrated the holy Eucharist with the bishop. Fr Boniface Pinto, director of Mangala Jyothi, Diocesan Biblical and Catechetical Centre animated the Liturgy.

After the Eucharist a short felicitation programme was organized by the diocese. Fr Henry Sequeira, chancellor of the diocese introduced the newly ordained priests and wished them well.

Dr Aloysius D’Souza presided over the felicitation programme and greeted the new priests and thanked their parents for being generous to give their sons to the diocese to serve as priests. Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu, vicar genereal of the diocese and Fr Ronald Serrao from St Joseph’s Seminary were present on the dais. Fr Patrick Sequiera, one of the new priests, expressed gratitude on behalf of the newly ordained priests.

The newly ordained priests are Fr Patrick Sequeira, Modankap parish, Fr Edwin Monis Beltangady parish, Fr Praveen D’Souza, Kumbla parish, Fr Melwin D’Souza, Maniampare parish, and Fr Paul Crasta, Arva parish.

Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, rector, Minor Seminary of Mangalore diocese compered the programme.

Mr. R.Bhandarkar in your earlier comments it's just sounded like you are just doing a joke of priests hood or priests.
it’s not a vacancy its a sacred vocation, there is much difference, every Christian is sentimentally associated with it.
Your Intensions might be good or right but when they are not clear definitely they are going to hurt someone, ie. on a Rama Navami day if I wear a T-Shirt with Rama’s picture on it I am 100% sure I will not return home, my intension might be good but it hurts the sentiments of some people.

I have only one request: that is : when we priests from the north who are much senior to you and vulnerable to the world of rejection by the people like Mr.R.Bhandarkar come to take recourse to you, please do not act like land lords, as we have expirienced with many of you.

Vacancy always for professionals/ jobs WHERE AS "priesthood is a divine call for vocation ". This is my understanding.

Quite often we have noted that, some people have the habit to pass some comments which is not at all relavant to the subject. My personal opinion is "Neglect such Comments" instead of adding extra fuel to it.
Well Mr. Bhandakar, it is your greatness that, you have realised & apoligised for what has happened.
As we all are living in the same society better to understand each other & live together than to try to breake-up the community..... which most of our PolyTitians are interested in.

All brothers ,sisters -who in case have felt and felt bad n sad
I apologise if I have hurt your sentiments unintentionally..The saying of the Lord
'Forgive them for they know not what they are doing' has been referred to here,by some commentators
    .

The Lord forgives in any case, even if they know what they are doing. Lord
Jesus if you think Lords over a particular community will be your greatest mistake. Somebody has referred to me as a 'Konkano'-The knowing here is simply 'Konked'Even then if you want to check your legacy , go to the roots-You'll be shocked as to what you find there! As to comparing me with some one else or going somebody else's way, is far fetched to say the least! For starters ,otherwise my comment would never have been posted...
It's only the basis of my earlier comments which have never differentiated on the basis of caste, community ...etc,etc, that it has been posted. The Lord as we all know was 'crucified'for speaking the 'Truth'. Now more than half othe world are his followers! What does that tell
us? Can somebody who has 'felt' that terrible about my comment
explain? Joke -Joel-Do you feel it?
You and your proverbs- I have mine which will last you 2 lifetimes!!
It's not easy- I know it- but one can still be without proclaiming.
A man is known by his work.Mind you-'Designations' may be many. You may move into a new house-but
does that mean 'you are 'new' or changed? YOu'll still be the 'Old Joel'..Got what I am driving at?
So even if my experience is 'NIL'-I am willing to 'change' is all that I have said. The vacancy referred to is just a 'number' in connection to this article. Vacancies otherwise are everlasting if you are 'willing to change'!

Whoever thinks priesthood is an easy joke, needs counseling. As you progress in the rigorous training and education before you become a priest, you go through a self realisation to know whether you have a vocation to become a priest or not. I know it for I have gone through it, and it was tough. I personally congratulate all the newly ordained priest so that God gives them the strength to continue his ministry in the right way. God bless

God bless the new priests. Give them good health, make them true followers of Jesus. Nowadays small families less vocations. My grand father had 6 children. Two boys married, two become priests, two girls become nuns. For that my grand Father n mother got golden award from Pope "Bene Merenthi". My dad had 11 children but none of them could serve the lord.
