Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (NM)

Mangalore, Apr 20: A case of kidnapping was reported in the city on Friday April 20.

Jeppu resident Likita, a 20-year-old final-year BSW student of a city college, was reportedly kidnapped near Shree Mukhyaprana Temple at Bolar here.

Pandeshwar police told Daijiworld that some people came in a Maruti Omni and forced her into the vehicle before spedding away.

According to the complaint given by Likita's mother Revati, she and her daughter were returning from the Temple at around 6.45 pm when four people came in an Omni and pulled Likita in. When Revati tried to stop them they pushed her and fled.

Sources said that a love affair was the reason behind the kidnapping. A person named Vitesh from Beltangady is suspected, police said.

Pandeshwar police have registered a case.

This is a very daredevil kidnapping in broad daylight, which needs to be solved fast. It shows to what extent criminals have taken advantage of the lax policing, no preventive intelligence, and low conviction rate! As Gerard (Modankap) has viewed, Mangluru has gotten worse overtime and law abiding citizens now have to live in fear of daylight robberies, rapes, cheating, chain snatching, extortion and now daylight kidnappings???? Mangluru is following the Bihar way!!!!!!!!

It is very sad o note that Jeppu resident Likita, a 20-year-old final-year BSW student of a city college, was reportedly kidnapped near Shree Mukhyaprana Temple at Bolar here.Whether it is a love affair or any other affair such kind of activities should not happen either in mangalore or any other part. That too in broad day light.Only police department can enact/bring some stringent/tough rule/law to stop all these menace and punish the culprits regardless of their political linkage or money power.Which is not happening in India due to prevailing bad judicial system.Hope police will try their best to nab the culprit and award them severe punishmen.

Love affair or other affair, forcing and kidnapping is a criminal activity which should dealt with iron fist by police.Mangalore City is developing in fast pace and in the process, the police personnel strength might remained static. Therefore,to man city round the clock need more staffs particularly for night patrolling with advanced electronic gadgets and weapons.Still Managlore remained peaceful city comparatively.Police should act with no time loss to arrest the group.
