Mangalore, Apr 22: Two foreigners, including a woman, have been arrested for allegedly for indulging in undesirable activities here on Sunday April 22. A male student from Kerala was also arrested along with them.

The foreigners, identified as Benjamin Charles Ford and Jennifer Marie, both from the USA, were later let off with a warning. However, contrary to initial reports that claimed they had drugs, the police later told Daijiworld that drugs were not seized from them.

The arrests were made from a gents paying guest (PG) at Ujjodi here.

Gladson, a student from Kerala was staying at the PG, along with two other students. After his roommates left for Kerala on vacation, Gladson reportedly called up the caretaker of the PG and informed him that a friend of his, named Abhishek would be joining him. Gladson too left for his native.

He had also told the caretaker that a water pipe in his room leaking heavily and that the room had been flooded. He asked if it could be cleaned up as his friend was coming.

In the morning, the caretake happened to see Abhishek, who had arrived by then, running away. Growing suspicious, he went to the room and found it locked. However, he heard some sounds inside and grew suspcicious.

He then broke open the lock, and to his suprise found it locked from the inside also. He then forcefully pushed the door and broke it.

Inside, he found a boy who was later identified as Poornachandra Tejaswi from Kerala.

Just at that moment, the plumber too came and headed towards the bathroom. Before the boy could stop him he pushed open the door. In the bathroom were the foreigners, a man and a woman.

The caretaker, shocked at this development, informed the police. As the news spread, people gathered at the spot.

The police found alcohol and condoms in the room, and arrested all the four.

The foreigners are said to have created a scene and screamed at the people and the police. However, they were taken into custody.

The foreigners, who were later found to be a married couple, were let off with a warning by the Kankanady rural police, while Tejaswi's parents have been summoned. Abhishek is absconding.

Mr. Vickey, Dubai Please read the complete story before making any comment. The incident took place in someone's private property not in a public place. There is a term called 'illegal' Iam sure you are aware of this being in the middle east.

Nothing will happen. If they are from USA, UK or Italy our Government would say State does not have right to proceeds against those countries citizens and they will ensure that Police Department will take them in Limousine, give a polite verbal warning and deport them to their Country of Origin. This what happened in Mangalore now and few days back in Kerala for Italian Crew Members too. But those Countries can even do “strip search” for our former President and Indian Female Diplomats too

American tourist travelling to third world countries are asked to call American Embassy whenever they face prob/harrasment. If they call they get all support n help from their embassy. There are times American tourist air lifted. It's not like our Indian Embassy in the Gulf. plz know American power then talk, This is the reason why highest number of ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS in America are INDIANS!!

I think many readers don't know that arresting American citizen is not so easy.It brings more head ache not only to Police but also to Government.Usually, whenever American citizen enters any country, say India..our police department must give unofficial security to them.Otherwise Government of India is answerable to US.

Hope, readers have not forgotten Italian sailors shooting incident in Kerala.Even President of Italy talked to Mr.Manmohan Singh to release his 2 sailors who shot dead two Indian fishermen. So,Mangalore police didn't want to drag the case. They closed the file by saying "Drugs were not seized "..Chapter Closed.Power of US Passport.!!

The song "Remo Fernandes" is very much true.... IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA !!! The foreigners were given warning and let go. Then why is indian citizen Tejaswi been held back ? Police could give him a warning and let go. If we were in a foreign country would that country cops given us a warning and let go ? This very clearly shows that in india law is not equal to everybody. Hence the crime rate is growing and thus foreigners choose to come to our motherland and enjoy, as they land will never permit to do so. What a shame on our lawmakers.
