Udupi, Apr 23: Manipal Sand Heart’s Srinath Manipal and Venki Palimar conducted a one-day pottery workshop at Hombelaku, mental rehabilitation centre, in association with community medicine department of KMC Hospital, Manipal, on Sunday April 22, on the occasion of ‘World Earth Day’.

The message conveyed by the workshop was that rapid industrialization in the country is causing greenery to disappear paving the way for a concrete jungle. This has strained the earth and resulted in global warming. Industrial pollution and rise in global warming will make the earth uninhabitable in the nearest future.

The workshop stressed that the need of the hour is to earmark green spots while constructing buildings, to create awareness among the students about conservation of the earth, to grow plants and nurture, and to give due significance for environment in the syllabus.
