Kasargod, Apr 23: A herd of wild boars ransacked a house located at Blarakkod, Puttur - Mogral, on Saturday April 21.

The locals chased a herd of wild boars that were roaming an inhabited area and two boars entered the house of Yacoub in Puttur–Mogral, near here. The family tried to bolt the latches of the door before they fled and in the process, two boars were trapped inside.

The trapped wild boars ransacked the house. The locals gathered as soon as the news spread in the locality. Forest department personnel arrived at the spot but could not trap the wild boars since they had no accessories. The fire brigade personnel managed to trap the boars using nets and released them into the nearby forest.

Wild boars are venturing into inhabited lands in herds in search of food that has become scarce in forests owing to deforestation. It has been causing havoc on farm produce and a nightmare to farmers.
