Mangalore: After Nirmal Gram Award, District Wins Another National Honour

Mangalore, Apr 26: The Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat (ZP) which recently bagged the central Nirmal Gram award, has now been conferred with yet another honour by the centre.

The ZP has won the top Rs 25-lac award under the Panchayat Empowerment and Accountability Incentive Scheme (PEAIS). The award has been instituted by the department of panchayat raj and rural development by the central government.

DK is only the 13th zilla panchayat in the nation to win this award.

The award was presented to ZP president Shailaja Bhat on Tuesday April 24 by union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh at a glittering ceremony in New Delhi.

Karnataka rural development and panchayat raj minister Jagadish Shetter and union minister for tribal affairs and panchayati raj V Kishore Chandra Deo were also present.

DK was chosen for the award based criteria like frequency of meetings, maintenance of records and accounts, planning and development, implementation of government schemes, transperancy in running the affairs and extent of member participation. It is said that the district scored high in all the parameters.

    Dinesh Poojary....I am not denying the fact that every states have Shortage of power...But you know due to all these facts including power cut menace,people of Karnataka taught a lesson to Congress and installed BJP govt..yes or no? then why this kolavery Di?you mean to say Congress did that why we should not!?Congress Corrupt why BJP not?Congress failed to supplying uninterrupted power then why BJP need to supply????

    Dinesh, last four years did BJP take off on it's own?Every interval there was a 'repair'!you know about CHATISGAD POWER PRODUCTION MOU?My understanding is that just they built a DOCK HOUSE!!Obtain information how much MW power BJP govt produced in Karnataka in 4 years?BJP's most ministers are either incompetent or inexperienced and that is the fact.One side acute power shortage another side drought and still govt going ahead to have a grand GIM!!!!???

    I think there are only two categories of readers here (pro cong or pro BJP) and they act like authorised agents of the respective parties. There are no pro-JDS commentators as of now.
    There are very few who actually talk about the issue.
