Bangalore, Apr 28: Karnataka’s Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar has announced that he has rejected a report on extensive illegal granite quarrying in Kanakapura taluk of Ramanagaram district submitted by a committee headed by Principal Secretary to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Mohammed Sanaulla.

The Minister, who spoke to the reporters in Bangalore on Saturday, said the report submitted the committee was not acceptable to him as it ''did not contain any substantial details regarding illegal granite quarrying.”

He would urge Chief Minister D V Sadananada Gowda, who also holds the Mining and Geology portfolio, to constitute a judicial probe into illegal quarrying in Kanakapura taluk by constituting a committee headed by retired judge of the High Court of Karnataka.

''Sanaulla is a native of Kanakapura taluk,” the minister said and indicated that he had not accepted the report on illegal quarrying submitted by the panel headed by the official.

''An impartial probe alone would help nabbing the persons involved in illegal granite mining,” the minister said.

The Minister has been alleging that Congress leader D K Shivakumar and his brother D K Sureshkumar were illegally involved in quarrying business in the taluk.
