Mangalore, May 1: Yet another bonanza is in store for Tulu movie fans, and especially for those who love comedy. 'Aamait Asal Eemait Kusal', produced by Surya Menon and Ranjan Raaghu Shetty under the banner of Yodha Entertainment, is all set for release this week, on Friday May 4.

Ranjan Raaghu Shetty who hails from an IT background has worked in Germany for for years. He participated in the Nokia Mobile Film Making Competition in the year 2007 and had won the competition for a video he had shot in Germany. His prize was a free study tour of 6 months in Subhash Ghai's film institute Whistling Woods.

His dad Raaghu Shetty was highly dedicated to the cause of Tulu drama troupes and was a great fan of Tulu artistes. Ranjan met Surya Menon who also hails from Mangalore in Whistling Woods. They both shared their common dream of making a Tulu movie and started working towards this end. They started their joint firm 'Yodha Entertainment'. One thing led to another, and soon, their Tulu movie - 'Aamait Asal Eemait Kusal' was born.

The movie has been directed by Ranjan Raaghu Shetty himself. Ranjan, a young and talented guy, has a lot of hopes for his new movie.

Speaking to Daijiworld, he expressed his gratitude and thanked the entire production crew for their support in making his dreams come true.

Interestingly, all the members of the crew were also his classmates at Whistling Woods! It's like a whole family working for a similar cause and showing their love towards their Tulunadu as many from the team are from Mangalore.

Jyothish Shetty and Naveen D Padil are playing double roles in the movie, and their comedy is definetely going to be a double treat for the audience.

He also thanked all the aritistes for their support, feedback and encouragement throughout the journey of making this movie. He specially thanked the well-known Tulu artistes who have also acted in this movie, like Naveen D Padil, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Sai Krishna, Jyothish Shetty, Akshata Marla, Sukhanya Rai, Sarita Shetty, Shilpa Kotian, Uday Kumar Uppinangady, Navin Shetty Mijar, G K Kenchankere, Sudhir Kottary, Shashiraj Rao Kavoor, Sadashiv Amin, Umesh Amin, Ranjan Bolur, Bhaskar Adyapady and others as well.

He said that he had a good experience working with the team and also gained lots of knowledge and ideas as well. The movie has been shot in Mangalore and Mumbai.

"Techically also we have done their best but we are leaving it to the viewers to decide," he states.

When asked his point of view over two movies releasing within a span of one week, he said it was a good thing as there will be competition and that would also compel film makers to make movies without compromising on quality, which in turn would enhance the overall quality of Tulu film industry.

"Competition also makes us give our best to the viewers. Even though there are lots of drama troupes in Mangalore and even dramas releasing at the same time, the size of the audience has not decreased. Audience will choose the best," he said.

Ranjan adds, "Two Tulu films releasing within a week of each other is a sort of revolution in Tulu movie industry."

After this movie, he is also planning to try his hand at a Hindi movie, but with a promise that he would produce a Tulu movie once in three years.

'Aamait Asal Eemait Kusal' has also been shot in Telugu simultaneously but with different aristes under the same production banner, but the director is Sudhir Chandra.

Ranjan expressed lamented that it took a long time to release his movie due to some problem with the digital sensor that was introduced this year. His movie has been given U-certificate and he has not compromised with quality. "The movie has come out really well thanks to the immense efforts put in by the team. Many of them are freshers, they have worked a lot to make their first movie a grand success. The songs have also come out really good. Well-known Bollywood singer Shankar Mahadevan's son Siddarth Mahadevan has sung for the movie," he said.

Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, speaking to Daijiworld, echoed Ranjan and said that 'Aamait Asal Eemait Kusal' has turned out well. His has a guest appearance in the movie, which as he said, is 'short and sweet'.

"Ranjan’s father Raaghu Shetty has a great respect and love towards Tulu theatre and drama troupes, and the same has passed on to the son," he said.

The film will be released on May 4 in Central and Big Cinemas in the city. Ranjan is expecting a grand success, and from the looks of it, he should be right.
