Sharjah: Alliance Cricket Tournaments End on High Note

Sharjah, May 1: Alliance cricket tournaments held recently at Sharjah University grounds have ended on a successful note.

Both the tournaments organized by Alliance witnessed keenly fought finals.


First Tournament

Here in the finals Mogaveers XI beat Shanan Star in a tight match. The outstanding cricketer award was given to M/S Johnson Arabia. Alliance Trophy 1 winners Nafees Cricketers put up a brave fight in semi-finals but were unable to reach the finals.

Earlier in the day the inaugural match was held between Alliance Trophy 1 runners-up Alliance team and Johnson Arabia. Johnson Arabia scored 182 runs in 12 overs. Alliance with the help of six massive sixes by Santhosh finished  with a score of 160 runs. Santhosh was out for 55.

In all, 8 top teams participated - Suratkal Stars, Alliance, Mogaveers UAE, Johnson Arabia, Millenium Stars, Shanan Star, Nafees Cricketers and Al Shayaan Club.


Second Tournament

Here spirits were even higher with two strong teams Suratkal and Johnson Arabia battling it out for the trophy in final spot. Johnson Arabia cruised to victory beating Suratkal in a tough match. Nafees and Coastal Challengers were satisfied with outstanding team awards. The final match was witnessed by almost all the teams.

In all, 8 teams participated - Eta Stars, Oasis Mored, Royal Shirur, Coastal Challengers, Nafees, Johnson Arabia, Suratkal Stars and Alliance.   

Both tournaments were wrapped up on time after distributing trophies to the winning teams and man of the match awards.

Commentary and ceremony was superbly conducted by Ayaz of Alliance team. Ayaz's performance was highly acclaimed by many who were present.
