Mangalore: Dr Rajwin Fernandes Dies in Bus Accident

Mangalore, May 2: City-based Dr Rajwin Fernandes (47), owner of Trinity Eye Centre in Valencia died in a road accident near Kunigal on Tuesday May 1 night.

He was traveling in KSRTC Volvo bus from Mangalore to Bangalore on Tuesday night when the driver of the bus reportedly lost control over the bus.

The bus skidded, killing Dr Rajwin and injuring four others.

Dr Rajwin sustained head injuries and died on the spot. He was accompanied by his father Rocky Fernandes during the journey. They were traveling in the last late night bus from the city to Bangalore.

I am extremely shocked and sad to know that my freind RAJWIN is no more,I have lost a very humble friend.I know Dr Rajwin since 1987 he was my batch-mate in KMC Manipal and room-mate in JJM Davanagere in 1991.He was an amazing person and liked by every one.My heartfelt condolences to Dr.Razwin's family members, May his soul rest in peace.

May Dr. Rajwin's sould RIP. I was introduced to him by my wife, who has been seeing him since her childhood for her eyes. I got specs for the first time and Dr. Rajwin did a good job of my eye examination. The news of his death has come as a shock to me and my wife. Our deepest condolences to his family.

Shocking News. More than a doctor, he was a wonderful person, his kind words and simple personality made him a true friend of his patients. My mother's one eye was 75% blind and the other was 100% due to cataract and was operated by Dr. Rajwin and she got back her eyesite completely. Surely by his profession he has followed the Word of God and served the people and God called him to enjoy the eternal life to be in a better place than we are.
Deepest condolences to all the family members on the sad and untimely demise of Dr. Rajwin.May the Almighty Lord grant his soul enternal peace and stregthen the family to bear his loss.

I attended your funeral at 430 PM at Milagres church.
I just could not stand till the end of the ceremony because it was too much for me.

Dear citizens, Please raise your voices to protest against the lack of safety features in the buses. Especially safety belts. When a person is sleeping he needs to have a safety belt to hold them to the seat. Lets demand that all KSRTC buses have safety belts. The private will also follow suit immediately.

It is shocking to hear about the sad demise of Dr.Rajwin.I came across Dr. Rajwin when I was working for a pharmaceutical company. He had even extended his selfless support in organizing free eye check up camps for the poor in our Angelore Parish.

Late Dr. Razwin one of the distinguished Eye Surgeons among Mangalorean community our neighbour at Belvue apartments, Valencia and has been a family friend from the time he set up his Trinity Eye Care Centre at Belvue apartments, Valencia. He being the stand-in President of Belvue Apartment Owners Association his sudden demise is a great loss for his family & our Association.

Today I am heart broken. Everyday i used to post comments on daiji but today no chance after hearing very very sad news. I dont have any words to express. Comments posted shows how much our dear doctor was kind for his people. I used to meet Dr. Rizwan @ Andrams cuttlery shop (near valencia church) . A soft spoken, kind person , reachable to any kind of persons also was kind enough to listen peoples problems. On this friendship i took my neighbour palli to Trinity Eye care. When doctor came to know that patient is below poverty level he waived all the fees and gave glass free. When asked the fees he smilingly said three best words in Konkani "DEV BOREM KORUM".
TODAY DOCTOR YOU ARE NOT WITH US , BUT SWEET MEMORIES YOU LEFT IN YOUR 42 YEARS OF YOUR LIFE ARE TREASURES FOR US".

Dear Dr. rajwin, each time I came to you I felt that care and warmth that you showed in your demeanour. I dont know why good people have to die so soon? This world has become a poor place without you Dr. Rajwin. I so wish that this news is untrue. I cried when my wife mailed me this morning about your demise. I was in India last week and was actually planning to visit you but could not . God , how cruel can fate be?!!Why does this happen to nice people I cant fathom. There are so many evil doers, paedophiles, rapists, evil politicians who do not deserve to live. I just dont understand why you , why you of all people Dr. Rajwin. Now who will be the ray of hope for all those eye patients, ONLY GOD can answer this. Im really distraught!!! RIP my friend, as god has called you for a higher purpose. Dear Zeena and the bereaved family,

I'm truly saddened by Dr Rajwin's death. He was an amazing person. I had the privilege and pleasure of meeting him recently. I was impressed by his humbleness......what a nice doctor!

Dr. Rajwin impressed me with his caring manner - a not-too-common trait. Even when you felt your visit was complete, he would ask, "Do you have any questions?" He will be deeply missed. My deepest sympathy goes out to all of his family.

John 14: 6 - Jesus said to him “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no one comes to the father except through me”

“May our Lord's grace and peace that surpasses all understanding comfort your hearts during this sudden loss.”

Death is such a mystery indeed, and always the best are taken! Dr.Rajwin was not only an excellent opthalmologist, he was a very soft spoken, sincere person and for a Doctor he was very patient and welcoming. He will be missed by us, all my family members have been patients of his over time. May God grant his soul eternal rest and strength to his family members to bear this immense sudden loss. The bus in which I was traveling was halted at the accident site for a while. It was really disaster that volvo bus was skidded in this road. It is a newly built 4 lane road. It was raining. driver must have been slept.

Dr Rajwin was a wonderful human being first and then a dr..no pretensions ,no pride..a person who got on well with everyone who knew him..a smiling face and jovial Hi was characteristic of him..he was the committee member of retreat apartment as secretary ,vice president and president..he always took his responsibilities seriously and was the first person to help anyone in the building even in the middle of the night..Dr rajwin is not with us anymore..but he has left with us his vision and humanitarian spirit..may God give courage and strength to bear this great loss..

Neglegence driving by KSRTC bus driver caused death of a young doctor..... It is really dangerous to drive across Karnatak Road....
