Kasargod: Court Sentences Thief Riyaz to Four Years of Rigorous Imprisonment

Kasargod, May 4: Hosdurg judicial magistrate court, on Thursday May 3, sentenced notorious thief 28-year-old Riyaz, a native of Periyatadka, to four years of rigorous punishment for the robbery of ancient idols and car lifting.

Riyaz, who was imprisoned at Mangalore sub-jail in relation to this case, was presented before Hosdurg court. He was accused in five cases related to car lifting and robbery of ancient idols from Bhagavati Temple located in Kurumba–Kotikulam, near here.

He was accused in over 30 cases of dacoity, and car lifting in the villages located along the Kerala –Karnataka border. He had escaped from Kannur central jail and sub-jail thrice in the past.
