Sharjah: Pharmacy Inaugurated, Seminar on Stroke Management Held at GMC

In line with its strategic plans to expand the pharmacy chain, Thumbay Group recently inaugurated a new pharmacy at the GMC Medical & Dental Speciality Centre, here.

The new unit was inaugurated by B Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen, chairman, B A Group, India in the presence of Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group-UAE, Akbar Moideen, director - operations healthcare and retail division, GMC hospitals, provost of GMU professor Gita Ashok Raj, Dr Manvir Singh Walia, medical director-operations and all the eminent doctors, staff of the GMC medical and dental speciality centre, here.


“The inauguration of this pharmacy is part of the strategic plan of our retail division to establish a total of 20 pharmacies in UAE in the current year 2012”, commented Akbar Moideen.

For the convenience of the patients the newly inaugurated pharmacy is equipped with wide range of medicines from reputed pharmaceutical manufacturers. Well experienced pharmacists with a friendly attitude serve the customers round the clock. GMC Medical & Dental Specialty Centre supports the clinical teaching activities of the dental college of Gulf Medical University, UAE.
Orthodontic, prosthodontic, oral surgery, endodontic, general dentistry are some of the specialized dental treatments carried out in the dental clinic.

Later, Doctor’s Meet 2012 – A seminar on management of stroke and compound fractures was held by the GMC Medical & Dental Speciality Centre, Sharjah. A total of 40 doctors attended the informative event. Dr Banikantha Das Sarkar, specialist in internal medicine from GMC hospital lectured on the risk factors and management of strokes. Dr Praveen Kumar Pande, specialist in orthopedics from GMC hospital spoke in detail on the identification and management of compound fractures.

The highlight of the seminar was the topic of identifying a patient suffering from stroke and/or compound fractures by a general practitioner and subsequently refers to a specialist for further treatment.

The workshop was accredited by ministry of health, UAE for 2.5 CME hours.
