Mangalore, May 7:
Pandeshwar police on Monday May 7 sealed the office of JCG Associates Manpower Recruiters at Al-Rahaba Complex near State Bank here, for allegedly duping Gulf job seekers.

JCG Associates owned by Canute D'Souza is alleged to have duped nearly 47 job seekers, by collecting amounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000 from each job aspirant.

Canute had collected Rs 5,000 each from Stany Dinesh of Kuttar and Pradeep of Karwar, Rs 50,000 each from Safael, Mohzan and Pradeep of Karwar, Rs 25,000 from Shamsuddin, Rs 20,000 from Harish Kumar Kuttettoor and H Ram Gupta, Rs 10,000 from Mohandas of Krishnapur, Rs 15,000 from Vishwanath Poojary and similarly collected various amounts from others without placing them in jobs in the Gulf.

Based on a complaint the duped job seekers, Pandeshwar sub-inspector Bharati arrived at JCG Manpower Recruiters office along with other policemen while Canute was away and sealed the office.

In 2010, Canute was caught by the police for a similar fraud case, wherein he and his associate Francis Rebello had allegedly duped around 128 job aspirants on the pretext of providing them visas to Bahrain.

This guy Canute is not new, In 2003 he took from me Rs 500 as advance for a job in MNC, He told me he will refund the money if I dint get job, He returned Rs 350 after deducting his registration Charges, He asked me Rs, 3000 for a confirmed job, I think till now JCG has earned enough.

Despite the setback, aspirants are in smiling mood. One way, perhaps to keep spending, even if you can't afford, at reviving a failing economy where such cheats thrive.

Since this agency has been caught in an earlier case of fraud,I feel the Ministry of Labour should cancel its license. If it is allowed to operate again, many may get trapped and lose their money & peace of mind too.

Dear Mr. Canute, if you happen to read the comments, please do not cheat the innocent people. You know yourself how difficult it is to work in the gulf, sacrificing for the sake of family members as you too worked in Muscat in the past. Why do you want this kind of fast money?

Sometimes situations at home make one so desperate, that finding a job in the gulf remains the only alternate. People are ready to spare any amount to get a job in the gulf and these so called 'Agents' take advantage of such cases. Even after going to gulf many get cheated by not getting the same job or salary which is being negotiated by the agents. People become helpless and with frustration accept whatever is given. Better think twice before approaching an agent and study his full background, which may help to some extent.

Sorry to hear this. I was also victim of such fraud 15 years ago. In that case also, the person who cheated us was also caught by police many times in the past and was released by police. Then what is the point in arresting them ?

OUR YOUTH MUST UNDERSTAND THIS NOW A DAYS. THEY HAVE PLENTY OF JOBS IN INDIA ITSELF. NO NEED TO GOTO GCC FOR JOB. AND ALSO GCC NOW A DAYS UNDER TENSE SITUATION. EDUCATED YOUTHS WILL FIND JOBS IN INDIA AND NEED TO WORK VERY-HARD AND HONESTLY FOR THE BENEFIT OF THEIR FAMILY AS WELL AS FOR THE COUNTRY AS A WHOLE

Most of the duped people are educated ,still get trapped by the recruiting agents. Ministry of Labour of India is publicising cautionary advertisement now and then but these people never bothered to follow the regulations imposed by Govenment Of India.

Please dont go for SHORT CUTS .Make sure about the genuinity of the agents before submitting your documents and money.

Educated people are going backwards ???? its a shame.
