Bangalore: CM Asks Haj Pilgrims to Pray for State's Welfare

Bangalore, May 9 (PTI): Karnataka Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda today set in motion the process for selection of pilgrims for Haj pilgrimage with a plea to those visiting the holy shrine to pray for the welfare of the state.

"People say it brings good things when you meet people who go for Haj yatra. I request you to get the blessings of the Almighty Allah for Karnataka", Gowda told the gathering that had converged for selection of pilgrims for Haj this year.

He said 15,476 applications have been received which included 7,000 from women. A total of 785 applicants are 70 years and above and 406 applicants were aspiring for fourth Haj pilgrimage.

Gowda, who promised a transparent selection process, sought to remind the Haj pilgrims that the state's quota was limited to 4142 persons.

Gowda said the government has earmarked Rs 406 crore for the welfare of minorities and has set a target of spending Rs 100 crore on education, including providing scholarship to 5.25 lakh students.

"BJP is not against Muslims. Muslims are dear to its heart", he said seeking to drum up support from the community ahead of next year's assembly elections.

The Haj Ghar under construction in the city for benefit of pilgrims was expected to be completed by this year end, he said.

Great initiative and a noble gesture on the part of the Chief Minister to express his sentiments of joy and support towards those that are preparing the pilgrimage for Haj. Official supports such as this goes a long way in creating positive reflections upon the leadership and the forwarding looking attitude of our State.

Communal peace and harmony can be preached and practised in so many ways so that people appreciate the magnanimity of our leaders and render all the spirit of patriotism and support in our daily survival and growth in our secular nation.

A prayer is a prayer that reaches far and beyond our imagination so that we all recognize that we are children of one God.

If our State and District develops, we the people of the region will also develop hence all pilgrims including the Haj pilgrims should pray for the progress of our state and district.
Please remember, once a politician is elected, they are our leader and we should support them for the inclusive growth of the region and the people. But, during the election time we should give more importance to the individual politician’s background and vote for the best and capable leader. Please remember, we are the one who can make or break these politicians and they are leaders with all those facilities and importance due to us. If they are not capable of good governance of inclusive growth, please show them their real place.
You know, Hitler too was a brilliant speaker, a good organiser and a smart politician. In fact, he was an unstable man, who believed that he had been called by God to become dictator of Germany and rule the world. This kept him going when other people might have given up. His self-belief persuaded people to believe in him. Strangely, Hitler was not elected, though he had the largest party in the Reichstag but as unable to form the majority needed to become chancellor. His assenting to Premiership was due to a bitter feud between the Chancellor Von Papen and the Army General Von Schleicher. The rest is history.

    Dear CM Sir,
We Muslims are always there for our Motherland no matter what. But its only the Divisive politics that is played by some of your own organizations that paints us as the Enemies of our own Motherland by spreading nasty things about us saying we dont sing vande-mataram etc etc.if singing vande-mataram & spreading hatred amongst each other by hoisting pakistani flag here is better than not singing it but still being loyal to your motherland, then only God can save this once most Peaceful & Prosperous Karnataka.
    Mera Bharath Mahaan.

I request Hajj committe and CM just to turn down the application of those who have already performed hajj. This move will give a chance to those who is performing hajj for the first time and those who may not live until next year or until they are ed.... For those who wishes to perform hajj second or multiple times, may turn to private operators. These multiple hajj aspirants should know that their application will block the chances of first time hajj aspirants and this scarifice itself is a service in the way of Allah for their own community. I feel elderly members and their families may please be given priority as time with them is very short and they need lots of stamina, energy and care whilst performing the hajj related rituals in the mount of Mina, Muzdalifa, Arafat and Mecca. Good luck to all prospective hajis and May Allah assist you in completing your obligatory hajj and may He accept your hajj and supplication. May this hajj brings lots of prosperity and peace to our country and our state and our neighbourhood....aameen
