Qatar gearing up for 'Soad – 3 International' Finals

Doha, May 14: Regency Hall in Doha Quatar is gearing up to stage the finals of SOAD - 3 International, a Konkani Reality Show, featuring 6 finalists  3 male and 3 female  from Mangalore, Goa and Doha Qatar.  The shooting of the show which had begun in November 2011 finally culminates in the finals which will be held in Qatar on May 25, 2012 with the six finalists vying  for the prestigious  title  of “Rani Kogull-International” (Queen Cuckoo) and “Rai Kogull International”   (King Cokoo) and cash prize of Rs. one lakh each.  All the finalists will receive a cash award of Rs. 15,000/- each, being toppers from their region. 

Eric Ozario, Gurkar of Mandd Sobhann and also the Chief Trainer for this TV reality show said that a team of 21 people comprising judges, musicians, technicians, contestants and officials will be travelling to Qatar shortly to take part in the grand finale. 

 

Music Director of Kannada films – Guru Kiran, Bangalore, Tomazinho Cardozo of Goa and Rony D Cunha, Kuwait, will be the judges for the finals featuring the six finalists from the three regions.  Eric Ozario is the Music Director and Chief Trainier while Louis Pinto is the Director of Soad -3 International.  Arun Raj Rodries is the anchor of the programme.  As part of the final there will be a duet round to decide the best duet from among the three teams and the winning duet team  will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 20,000/-.

NRI businessman and philanthropist Ronal Colaco will be the chief guest for the finals in Qatar.  Dr M Veerappa Moily Union Minister, Govt of India will be guest of honour along with Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa, Ambassador of India in Qatar. Ronald Colaco and Family are the main sponsors of the event and Empire Estate, Bangalore are the co-sponsors of the event.   It will be a gala final which will witness stiff competition with finalists showcasing their talent to the fullest and grab the honours and name and fame that comes along with the coveted crown.      

Soad-3 International has been conducted by Mandd Sobhann in association with MCC Qatar, the premier Konkani cultural organization of Qatar, which is incidentally celebrating 20 years of its existence.  The two organizations joined hands to present the 3rd programme in the series with the principal objective of building cultural bridges between Mangalore and Goa and between India and Qatar. 

Eric says “though Konkani speaking people are spread across Mangalore and Goa, there is hardly any a cultural activity or interaction among the Konkani speaking people.  This programme is aimed at building and promoting cultural bridges among the people of Mangalore and Goa and also to provide a world stage for talented singers from these regions by promoting them in a big way”.   

The finals will be webcast live by TV daijiworld to enable music lovers from all over the world to watch this programme

Mangalore, May 14:  The finals of the Konkani TV reality show ‘Soad-3’ international will be held at the Regency Hall, D’Ring Road, Doha, Qatar on May 25 at 5 pm, informed Eric Ozario, gurkar, Mandd Sobhann here at a press conference held at the Press Club on Monday, May 14.
 
He said the event aims at fostering young singing talents. Earlier in 2005 and 2008 Mandd Sobhann had organized Soad-1 and Soad-2 respectively to make Konkani’s presence felt in the electronic media, this time Qatar’s leading Konkani organization Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Qatar is presenting Soad-3 international, he added.







In the finals, 6 finalists, 3 female and 3 male singers, the best of Goa, Mangalore and Qatar, will be competing against each other for the coveted title of ‘Rani Kogull-International (Queen Cuckoo) and Rai Kogull- International (King Cuckoo). They shall also win a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh each. All finalists will also receive cash awards. The ‘Best Duet’ also will be decided at the finals, he informed.
 
The noted singer Guru Kiran from Bangalore, Tomazinho Cardozo from Goa and Rony D’Cunha from Kuwait will be the judges. Eric Ozario is the music director and chief trainer. Union Corporate Affairs Minister M Veerappa Moily will also take part in the event. Louis Pinto is the director of Soad-3 International and Arun Raj Rodrigues is the anchor. A team of 22 members, consisting of judges, musicians, technicians, contestants and officials will be traveling from India.
 
The shooting of the preliminary rounds of ‘Soad-3 International began in November 2011 and ever since the show has been telecasted by Namma TV and Goa 365 (in Goa) and also has been web casted by TV Daijiworld. There were singers from different religion like Hindu, Muslim and Christians.
 
Richard D’Souza, president, MCC Qatar, Stany Alvares, president, Mandd Sobhann and Louis J Pinto, director, Soad-3 International were present during the press conference.
