It's Official : Yeddyurappa Not to Quit, for Now

Bangalore, May 14 (Agencies): Karnataka's Bharatiya Janata Party government is safe for now as former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa Monday announced that he has "temporarily put off the decision to quit the party".

"I had decided to quit. This was my decision at 12 noon. But I am putting it off by a few days in view of appeal by party president Nitin Gadkari and senior leader Arun Jaitley and several religious heads and many BJP supporters," he said at a press conference here.

Yeddyurappa, the BJP's first chief minister in the state, and indeed in the south, who was forced to quit over corruption charges July 31 last year, also said nine ministers loyal to him who had given their resignation letters to him would for now continue in the ministry.

He launched a blistering attack on his successor D.V. Sadananda Gowda, state party chief K.S. Eshwarappa and party general secretary H.N. Ananth Kumar, blaming them for the crisis that threatened to bring down the party government in the state.

Yeddyurappa said Jaitley had telephoned him Monday urging him not to take any extreme step.

The former chief minister has been making desperate attempts for several months now for his re-instatement. That possibility, however, has become remote following the Supreme Court order last Friday for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into corruption charges against him.

Fearing his and his supporters' marginalisation following the apex court decision, Yeddyurappa Saturday secured the resignation of nine ministers loyal to him to force the BJP leaders to replace Gowda with another person of his choice.

Though Gowda was his choice in July last year, the two have fallen out. Yeddyurappa claims that Gowda had agreed to step down after six months. Since this did not happen, he has been calling Gowda a "traitor" and making frantic efforts to unseat him.

The BJP came to power for the first time in the state in May 2008. Its rule has been marked by dissidence and corruption and other cases against at least 20 of the party's 120 legislators, including Yeddyurappa.

If he quit BJP, he will be 'Dhobi ka Kutha'. BJP is the right party for him to dictate terms to Party chief. If he was in other party, he would have been with Kalmadi by now. Superstitious cranky shamelessly striving for power. DVS has all qualities of good governance. He has studied in reputed Institutions which is evident from his manners and behavior. Jai ho DVS.

As some people rightly commented Sriman Yddiji is pakka cunning and shameless politician.Power hungrer.Completely spoiled the name of not only BJP but also whole of Karnataka.Gone completely fanatic, mad.Level of his B.P.Level has gone up.Now he is totally in dilemma and don't know what to do and what not to do under desperate condition.Who is he? there to order Mr.Sadananda Gowda to go/quit or dictate anybody in the party. He is merely an ordinary MLA like any other legislators.Had Mr.Yeddiji done anything good for the Karnataka people, situation of this kind would not have happened/arised.What he did is looted karnataka completely in colloboration with Reddy brothers. He has done good only for self and his kith and kin at the cost of karnataka people. He can not call Mr.Gowda as traitor,he himself is a traitor.Because of his own faults, nepotism, favoris mis-deeds he dug his own graveyard. Now he is fighting for his survival by playing different kind of Poly Tricks and blaming others for his own mistakes. Now he realized his mistakes himdself. But not ready to admit and apologise to the people of Karnataka.Kelage biddharoo, moogu mele yembha gaadheya haage.Maadidhannu unno maharaya.Naanu Naanembha Ahankarava bittode, nara thaa swargakkera ballanu sarvajna.Aadhere Yeddi adhakke ready illa.Avaru eega narakadha haadhiyalli iddhare.Very sorry.

Can BJP justify to go to people in the event of early polls? We are in severe drought and people struggling to get potable /drinking water but what is BJP MLAs and Ministers are doing?CT Ravi x Renuka,BP Harish X DVS,Yeddy X DVS are mudslinging in the street. There are Chaos and confusion and free for all...There is no collective responsibilities among council of ministers and that makes enough ground for GUV's action.

Incompetent BJP High Command need this govt to go forward by hook or crook. There is no base for this Govt to run as per constitution and precedent of democracy. The sickness continues between BJP MLAs and Ministers which hinders effective govt.Totally BJP has no moral/legal right to continue in the office. This is nothing but parading BJP's bankruptcy and nakedness. If DVS have a small self respect in him, he should resign or advise to dissolve the Assembly.ONE IMPORTANT THING IS TODAY DROUGHT ASSESSMENT DELEGATION VISITED KARNATAKA BUT THERE ARE NO MLAs OR MINISTERS TO RECEIVE OR APPRAISE THEM.....VERY UNFORTUNATE INDEED.

Mr.Yeddy is a cunning politician. He sat on opposition seat more than three decades, after a long waiting he got C.M.post. If he quit the BJP he know very well he cannot become again C.M. This is his PoliTricks. If he quit the BJP and formed new party in coming elections only get his party 10-15 seats. That is not enough to become his dream CM post.

This is only drama. He knew some veteran politicians fate when they quit the National party and formed new party. Still they are not succeeded as they wish. So Mr.Yeddi will continue in BJP giving trouble to party and high command untill completes the 5 years term. He hopes coming elections also they will secure more seats as last assembly elections.

He very badly needs a CM of his choice who can become his puppet for time being, as if he is the king of karnataka, so that he can cover up all his crimes very soon and rule again. If he is truly well wisher of the state and of the people & if he is innocent and if he feels injustice has been done to him by the party and the law enforcing authorities, then he should quit the party with his 70 supporters so that Mr. Sadananda Gowda will resign and request the governor to call for early election.

When he was the CM he would always cry saying that the others are after his chair and are not allowing him to govern properly. All the while he had the support of the central BJP leadership. He was forced to resign due to his own corrupt deeds and not because of anyone else. He thought that he had outsmarted the law by getting a clean certificate from his self appointed chelas in the Lokayukta police investigation section. He cried hoarse saying that the courts have proven him to be innocent and that he wants his gaddi back. Unfortunately for him the Supreme court has intervened and seen to it that he faces the music from the CBI. Instead of first fighting his case and proving himself innocent, he has started troubling poor Sadananda Gowda and is not allowing him to govern. For the past three months he has tried every form of nuisance to get the CM's chair and has failed because today the central leadership is supporting Sadananda Gowda. Let us wait and see what further tamasha he is going to create. Half the state has already realised that he is a lunatic and the rest will follow soon.

Frankly, I don't know the BJP Ledership is waiting for. If they are hoping that the Yeddy problem will just disappear, then they are mistaken . If they want to regain at least some semblance of the people's faith, then it must expel this joker even as he is holding his press conference. Call his bluff! The BJP government mostly may fall. So what, at least they would have got rid of the scumbag and his followers. The BJP too is steeped in Caste politics and scared. They have been big disappointment to the people of Karnataka. They can write this State off their list!

Yeddy quit or not quit BJP's image has been dented beyond repair not in Karnataka but also other states particularly Karnataka & Rajastan.Yeddy may buying time or waiting little more time to adjust the strategy in the event of a split.DVS,CM of Karnataka point blankly said that Yeddy will not escape from the punishment even though he offered bribes to Temples and Mutts!!!!CERTAINLY, BJP Karnataka is a divided house and I must say, like broken glass which can't be made as before.

The congress peoples were in celebration mode since yesterday with the information from the sources on inevitable fall of BJP govt. They need a bundle of tissue papers now to stop the continuous sobbing.
