Mangalore, May 17: When everyone speaks about crores in the form of TV shows, IPL auction or Kaun Banega Crorepati, here is a lucky man who bagged an amount of Rs 1 crore through lottery recently.

Meet Chandrashekar, the fortunate man on earth whose lottery won such a huge amount. He bought the lottery named ‘Karunya’ from Kerala for the amount of just Rs 50, which in return turned his life into a new direction. He bought the lottery tickets from the agent Kanakadas paying him Rs 50 for ‘Karunya’: KJ-No.189075' in Talapadi, the border of Karnataka and Kerala.

The result of lottery tickets was announced on Wednesday. Surprisingly, when the agent examined the results, it happens to be one of his clients which later revealed that it was of Chandrashekar.

For as many as 16 years, he has been working as a security guard for ‘Unique Wood Product Company’ here in KC Nagar of Talapadi. Such a big amount of money has left him to think out of the box for his future plans.

Lives in rented house

Though, he hails from Ernakulam of Kerala, Chandrashekar R has been staying here in Karnataka for the past 20 years. He is married to Umavathi of Kotekar and has a daughter Likhitha. The family lives in a rented house of Madhav Rao of Olavinahalli in Kotekar.

He is employed as a security guard in Unique Wood Products wherein he earns 5,000 monthly and wife supports the family by rolling beedi.

Chandrashekar used to buy lotteries whenever he had to travel to Talapadi. He had gone to the agent to find out if he had won any prize for his previous day's lottery. He thought he won 10,000 rupees, but it was not so, as it missed by one digit. Hence, he bought another ticket for the next day's results, which twists his prospects.

Though the result of the lottery was announced on Sunday, Chandrashekar decided to go to Talapadi only on Wednesday, not knowing anything about the results. When it's learnt that he is the fortunate being, agent Kanakdas guided him to the main branch at Manjeshwar Service Cooperative Bank. The application for sum of money was filled and in three days of time the money will be transferred to his account.

Fear factor

"When I realized that such a huge amount of money I won, I was frightened. Then afterwards, with patience and according to the guidance of the agent I approached the bank", Chandrshekar said. With this amount, he has decided to buy a property and build a house for the family and the rest of the money will be spent on my daughter’s education, he added.

Celebration

"I cannot believe that I have won such a big amount. I have been overjoyed to think that we will be shifting to our own house", Umavathi said.
Even the house owner Madhav Rao expressed his joy that the poor family is rightly blessed with the money.
