Mangalore: House Near Alape Gutted in Fire

Mangalore, May 20: House belonging to one Narayan was gutted in fire here in Alape, near Bajal, around 10 am on Sunday, May 20.

Narayan who works for Devi Printing Press, Hampankatta had lit the lamp for his morning prayers and left for work.

His wife and children had gone to Bangalore on some work, long before. Unfortunately nobody was at home and eventually the lamp that was lit caused the tragedy.

Since there was no one at home, the news spread only after the neighbors spotted it. Meantime, the fire had spread and part of the house was gutted in fire. Immediately the owner of the house was informed. The house was almost burnt before the fire brigade arrived at the spot.

The estimated loss is rupees 2 lac Including the roof, valuables and the house records are charred.

A case is registered in Kankanady police station.

    All these organization would have helped if fire occurred becau se muslim. wherever religious matters is there then only these organization will help.

    Sorry that Narayan's house got burned and lost almost everything but it was due to his own negligence. The pictures by Ramesh Pandith is very touching. Narayan should have been a bit careful when he lit the lamp and seen whether it was safe before he left for work.

    Well said Lydia Bai. HJV was playing fiddle when Alape (Narayans house) was burning. After all why peep into a house where no one is present and burn the 'midnight oil'? Let the moral police compensate him, why the Government? But their hands are tied in such matters.

    Government aid is for losses by natural calamities - not damages due to personal negligence. If organizations keep eye on whose daughter drinks in which pub or whose son drinks in whose house, they should also keep eye on incidents such as this.
