UAE : GMU Felicitates Leading Paediatricians

Ajman, May 21: Paediatrics Department, GMC Hospital and Gulf Medical University, Ajman have invited leading experts from all over UAE to discuss various issues related to Paediatric Emergencies.

Chief Guest His Excellency  Sheikh Dr. Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Court, Ajman bestowed special awards and honored leading Paediatricians from all over UAE during a special function held as part of the National Conference on Pediatric Emergencies at Gulf Medical University (GMU) Campus in Ajman.

Eleven leading paediatricians were honored for the recognition of their exemplary achievements in the field of Paediatrics and for their outstanding service to the community.  Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of GMU presided over the special event.  “Our endeavor is to recognize the contributions made by doctors, both nationals and expatriates in their specialty and highlight their achievements.  This is a token of our appreciation and we wish to make this into an annual event. We will be choosing experts from various specialities” said Moideen.

Mustafawi, Paediatric Surgeon, Latifa Hospital, Dr Badriya Al Awar, Head of the Pediatric Department, Dubai Hospital, Dr. Laila Obaid, Consultant, Paediatrics, Mafraq Hospital , Prof. Mahmoud Shamseldeen, Head, Dept. of Paediatrics, GMC Hospital Ajman,  Dr. Nadeem Khan, Chief of Pediatrics, Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, Ajman, Dr. Safiya Al Khaja, Medical Director and Chief of Paediatrics, Al- Qassimi Hospital, Sharjah, Dr. Abdelmalik Razik, Chief of Pediatrics, Fujairah Hospital and Dr. Abdul Latheef, Pediatrician, Private Clinic – Dubai.

“I am proud as a National doctor to get this award.  It is a testimony to the farsighted vision of the university management, especially of  its  Founder  Thumbay Moideen to honor leading experts - both national and expatriates.  I am highly impressed with the students cohort and the facilities of the university.  It shows the dedication of the management in making this university a leading institution in this country”, said Dr. Abdullah Al Khayat.

Dr. A.R. Mustafawi added, “I have seen this institution for more than a decade.  We are highly impressed with its growth and the quality of education that it imparts.  I am personally touched by this award and wish Thumbay Moideen all the best in his endeavours.

“This award is recognition of the efforts of the doctors. I feel this award is very special as it is given a private institution. It is very commendable that GMU is recognizing the specialists and their contributions” commented Dr Badriya Al- Awar.

“It is a recognition of the efforts of the doctors.  I am deeply honored by this award”, added Dr. Shahraban Abdullah.

“Pediatrics is a very important speciality and by honoring us, the university has honored the profession and all the specialists in this field. I would like to thank the management of GMU for this award, and receiving this honor from H.E.Sheikh  Dr. Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi made this more special”, said Prof. Hakam Yassin.

Dr. Laila Obaid was exuberant for the recognition and honor. “I am very happy to get this award. I have interacted with the students of GMU and they are very dedicated and knowledgeable. I thank the university management for doing this honor.

“It is a great gesture from the university. This is a recognition of our efforts and our contributions. I want to thank Mr. Moideen for giving me this honor” said Dr. Safiya Al Khaja.

While sincerely thanking the University for choosing him for the special award Dr. Abdelmalik Razik said,  “It is a great honor for me to get this award from HE Sheikh Dr. Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi and the management of GMU. It was a special surprise to get a call from the university informing me about being chosen for this award”.

“It is a great feeling to get this award. I want to thank the Gulf Medical University for selecting me for this award. I am in this country for a very long time. This award made my stay more special”, commented Dr. Abdul Latheef.

Leading experts in the field of Paediatrics like Dr. Shahraban Abdullah, Dr. Abdul Rahim Mustafawi, Prof. Mahmoud Shamseldeen, Dr. Nadeem Khan and Dr. Ignatius Edwin D’Souza delivered talks on Neonatal Neuroblastoma – A case presentation, Cardiac Emergencies in Paediatrics, Pediatric Surgery Emergencies, Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia – Strategies to prevent Kernicterus and other interesting case presentations. All the above leading paediatrics were  honored with special mementos by  Thumbay Moideen.

More than 100 doctors, medics and nurses specialized in the Paediatrics participated in the event which was accredited by the Ministry of Health for 6 CME hours.
