Mangalore, May 25: The officials of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) raided Bharath Mall and other places in the city here on May 24 evening.

The officials examined the trade licenses of several shops in the mall. Some of the shops were found to be trading without authorized licence from the MCC, and were sealed on the spot.

The owners were told to acquire appropriate documents and licences to resume their businesses.

Since last Friday several shops in the city have been raided as per the orders of the city commissioner. The MCC health inspectors, tax officers and officers of sanitation department are part of the team led by joint commissioner Srikanth Rao

Last Saturday, bhel puri and pani puri stalls were raided, and on Thursday may 23 Attavar and other places in the city too were brought under scanner. Fines running into several thousands have been collected so far from erring businesses.

Health inspector Bharath Kumar told Daijiworld that the raid operations will go on until the commissioner gives orders to stop.

@Rohit Poojary, Mangaladevi/Mangalore first and foremost please advise your secular kangress support medias to be impartial towards political parties and come out with the actual truth what they see and not on the basis of political parties and religon whom they support to make kangress supporters like you very happy. I dont say BJP is a perfect party, but to some extent definately much better than your so called secular party kangress. Also regarding scams if we list out the scams happened within your secular party kangress it wont fit into to comment column of this website. Also for your kind info 2g is meant as one of the biggest scam where your central UPA kangress lead govt involved in that. Why there is no news about that in your kangress support media channels??

There has been a pressure from big retailers to act. Fact is authorities are acting as many big fish coming to Mangalore city. Life is going to changes. Small retailers need to work those giant grocery store. Authorities may have been already paid big time as many businesses run without license. Now, outcome is everyone will run for obtianing license, in due course authorities will tighten thier entreprenuers. Fun is over.... Mangalore will see big change....wait and see

Mr Vinay....I, certainly not subscribe QUANTUM JUMP IN THE PETROL PRICE FROM UPA....Having said that how much state exchequer will gain in this increase as VAT depends on the price of the commodities. How much Karnataka's share of tax in Petrol my dear.I am neither supports congress nor hates BJP blindly...I don't support BJP for it's communal agendas..As far as corruption concerned both national parties have enough black dots with them.Due to global dryness and coupled with Euro debts and more importantly falling Indian rupees necessitated a increase but not of that RS 7.5.However, State and Central govt has to share some burden by forgoing excise duties and Vat duties respectively. In this regard GOA state is model state.

These raiding parties should also check on lodges. Those around city centre in Hampankatta are full of bed bugs and rodents. There seems to be no checks on their cleanliness at all!

This is only a show off by city corporation personnel with a greater intention behind. The officials, health inspectors were supposed to inspect their areas and see all shops have licence. These people are recruited by the government for 15 or 20 years or even more for this purpose. What were they doing till now? Shops do not have licence. Whose fault is it? Isnt it health inspectors mistake?

I am surprised to see the behavior of MCC authorities since few days.Citizens are expected to pay taxes,obtain/renew trade licences, property taxes, water charges etc., in time. However in a soceity like our there isalways a tendency that all will not be 100% perfect. This is so since tears and adminstration tend to take follow up action for the same. But all of a sudden go and seal the shops, offices etc., does not make any sence in a democretic soceity and it is not the way do deal in a cilised soceity.Even for IT also defaulters are given chance to comply with rules. Why harsh methods are being employed by the MCC authorities is really a cause that is disturbing the common man. Please give individual notices, make public prnouncement to comply with trde rules.Even if they does not fall in line with compliance formalities, then take punitive steps. This is the way how things should work.Adminstration should be people friendly and not like 'hitler shaahi'
Hope good sense will prevail up on the concerned to do the things in a right way.Peoples representatives should have a say in such matters if things are disturbing the soceity.

Double Standards! These people do it only for the sake of money and fame.

Why are the people in malls let off with warnings and allowed to resume business by obtaining licences. If thats the case, then partiality should have been done against the poor street vendors. Why were they not given time to get licences? Why was all their property destroyed. Why didnt the officials destroy any property at the mall? Shame on you double standard chameleons !
