Mangalore: Family Tries to Stop MSEZ Work on its Land, Assaulted

Mangalore, May 25: Four persons of a family, including two children, were injured after MSEZ officials allegedly assaulted them for trying to hinder their work on a land that supposedly belongs to the family.

The incident took place at Nellidadi Guttu in Bajpe here on Friday May 25.

The MSEZ is in the process of acquiring land for development. On Friday, MSEZ workers are said to have begun levelling land belonging to Laxman Chowta who resides in the area. 

According to a complaint lodged by Chowta, MSEZ contractors Raghavendra Holla, Krishnaraj Mayya and his brother, along with Subhash Padil, Sunil and Shantigudde Pachchu assaulted Chowta, his son Kishore Shetty, Mohini Shetty, Prafulla and Kishore's children Nirikshit and Bhavya Shetty.

The family is said to be owning 50 acres of land, on which MSEZ allegedly began work without seeking permission or acquiring it.

Chowta said that when he and his family members tried to stop the work, the contractors assaulted them.

Kishore, his children Bhavya and Nirikshit and Chowta were injured in the incident and taken to Wenlock hospital.

A case has been registered in Bajpe police station.

    Atanu Sen, you are mistaken. BD build bridge to Sri Lanka & not in any 'Kudru'. With regard to 'Dukra Maas' only reply is on sundays you all fill our court yard asking for 'Dukra Maas' & beef free of cost. "Enklena Illade malletha maasa baipayere balli, aanda enkleg niklena illade thinoli/ningoli". Have a nice Sunday with 'Dukra Maas \' & 'Beef Sukka' in neighbors house Atanu !

    @ Peter Pereira, Pune you are telling some kannada movie stories regarding BD. We are not facing such problems in mangalore now. Also you say that cowards hoisted enemy flag. The flag was hoisted by ramasene and do you know who are those ramasene's. They are not the part of sangh parivar at all. They used to support your favorite party congress once upon a time.

    You will find wineshop/bars/casinos/dukkar's shop/bakery/chicken shop/cold storage etc etc at one place only because you people while at church more on concentrating what to do after prayer rather than in God. Did you ever seen any such shops near Temples???>

    Dinesh Poojary, your BD and Ramasene is filled with weakest persons who attack females, unharmed, old men and women with the help of their khaki chamchas & assault single person in groups. Most of their acts are done hiding in the darkness and after mean acts they run away in Bikes hiding their face. They cowardly hoist enemy flag in our country and when caught 'darpok chuvas' flatly deny their acts. Who need the help of these rats ? May be you are weaker than them and that is why always show high regards to them.

    Soon we(public) have to attack on Gov. people . the police are the real goondas. they are the one who lickking the business mans and politicians underwear. these kind of police department we don't need in Karnataka espeacilly in Mangalore.     There is no single JANA PRATHINIDHI from any party when voters are in danger not because of their fault but because of system and ruler's fault.     The MSEZ's land filling to Palguni river and further assault on locals may go out of control as District Admin also not doing enough to solve the issue.If atrocities and injustice continues like this,there could be law and problem in and around Managlore.The onus lies with DC of managlore who need to give rationale thought before embarking for a permanent settlement.

    We condemn the assault towards locals by Contractor who sees only own benefit rather than society's.

    Development is needed not with Goondaism , Well with All the youth attending the recently Youth Samveha and builiding a stronger india , they have show thier power on some one isnt it ? hence they have tried using it on these two small kids and the family .
