Bangalore: Miraculous Escape for Father, Son as Lorry Topples on Car

Bangalore, May 30 (DHNS): A man and his son had a miraculous escape when a concrete mixer lorry fell toppled on their car on Malagala Service Road near Nagarabavi on Tuesday morning.

S R Venugopal and his son V Bharath were travelling in their car when the lorry speeding from the opposite direction took a sharp left turn and fell on the car.

The duo escaped unhurt as they rushed out of the car in a split second when they saw the lorry toppling on their vehicle. The lorry driver also escaped unhurt. Kamakshipalya Traffic Police rushed to the spot and removed the lorry and the mangled car with the help of a crane.

Lorry driver Suras Chowdhary was arrested and later released on bail.

By looking at the pictures, the root cause of the accident is in-experienced driver with over speed.

Our Almighty God and Savior saved both father and son from this tragic and near fatal accident. From the pictures it seems God pulled them out from the mouth of death. The driver must have been in high speed.

Speed governors of 60kmph should be made mandatory for all heavy goods vehicles. Then perhaps you can avert these occurances. Also it looks highly possible the driver is not trained to carry ready mix mounted truck. This should be made a different category all together so the drivers know the safety requirements of such vehicles.

Gerald, modankap-bantval this news is not about BJP or Congress. This news is about an incident where father and son just escaped from death. Please read the news properly if you know english language and see what the news is about. Dont blame BJP state govt if you have any personal problem at home also.

    Hi,
My this note as I was not clear on one of the comments...
" What is the use of the airbag "..
A Airbag helps when a vehicle meets with an accident involving its front portion.
At this, earlier the steering wheel used to come in straight into the chest of the driver thereby instead death.
Now at a collusion the airbag inflates between the drive and the steering wheel and saves the driver.
    Hope I have clarified.
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
The following responsibility should be taken up by the Concrete manufacturing companies which own these trucks:
    1. Ensure the drivers are taught of road discipline and NEVER to speed and also educate them that their truck load is so different from the rest. This as the concrete mix in the mixer behind sways and turns as the truck keeps moving / turning / stopping etc. (to explain further it being in a semi liquid state it keeps shaking all the time and the weight of the mixed concrete being heavy can sway the vehicle accordingly)
    2. To ensure the above, have "Governor's" installed in the trucks. "Governor's" are gadgets which do not let the driver to drive beyond 50 kms/ hr. and if he does the truck comes to a halt and a mechanic from the company is needed to come to the place where the truck has stopped to reset the engine.
While I did write similar notes to the Mumbai authorities they finally have decided on these gadgets on the BEST double Decker buses as well as the dump trucks after a double decker bus toppled on speeding at a signal light taking a steep turn. This accident was a tragedy as it crushed a young person on a bike who was to get married in the next few days.
Guess he was on his way back after some wedding preparations like collecting his to be bride's wedding clothes etc.
May his soul rest in peace.
Hope the authorities will wake up before we have such avoidable incidences happening again.
    Kind Regards

Very sad incident and it's by god's grace that saved the life of father and son, but this type of news makes our commentators like
Jossey Saldanha, Mangalore/Mapusa/Mumbai and Gerald, modankap-bantval very happy as this incident happened in Karnataka. Sitting in remote places they always wait for such news about Karnataka.

The accident would have been gruesome had anything happened to the people within the car. Thankfully these two escaped but many other people are not so lucky and happen to lose their lives in traffic accidents.
The ridiculous thing is the "disagree" that many have marked against comments for this article.Am sure these guys are relatives of the truck driver who are supoorting him!

Never enter a roundabout beside heavy trucks / trailers especially concrete mixers. Even though the driver of the trucks will be experienced, you never know when these heavy vehicles will topple.

God is everywhere and if you trust GOD you can even close your eye and walk. If God is with us even 10 people against us nothing will happen, but when 10 people with us god is not with us no one can save us. Thank God both father and son saved.

Being an employee of ready mix company i am sure driver is not well experienced. its not easy to drive loaded transit Mixers without experience especially in curves, round about.mixer drum capacity it seems 6cubic meter which is equal to approximately 14 ton depending on mix design specification.since it is in india concrete will choke inside drum.

"arrested and later released on bail", what a big deal if things are so easy.No need to get prior training, license will be issued without concerned person available and then take to busy road for practical training so how can we expect traffic sense. Its real trouble for fellow drivers.

Praise the Lord. God is great and most powerful. If God wishes to protect his servants/creations no power on the earth can harm.

Drivers license should be revoked for reckless driving and must be penalised with hefty fine...
