Muscat, May 31: The Mangalorean Catholic Center of the Parish (MCCP – Sts Peter and Paul Church , Ruwi) will organize the preliminary rounds (solo - men and ladies separate) of Gulf Voice of Mangalore III on Thursday June 21 in the main parish hall of Sts Peter and Paul Church from 8 pm onwards.


Rules of the competition:

Preliminary and Semi-finals Rounds

The competition is in three stages:

Preliminary rounds will be held on June 21 at the main parish hall of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ruwi, Oman.

Semi-finals will also be held in Oman, details of venue and date will be intimated at a later date.

Finals will be held in Doha, Qatar.


2. Eligibility

The competition is open to singers of Mangalore origin with residence in Oman born on or before October 14, 1994.

Open to all Mangaloreans in Oman.

Participants should hold valid country (GCC residing) residence. Visit visa holders are not entitled for the competition.

The title holders of the previous 2 GVOMs will be restricted from participating in this season. The runners up of both the seasons are permitted to try for the title this year.


3. How to Apply

Application form duly filled in capital letters or typewritten must be submitted before the preliminary round.

* Copy of the passport and identity card as proof of residence and age.
* Two recent photographs of good quality.


4. Program / Schedule

The competition is dedicated to Konkani solo songs only from the released Mangalorean albums (DVD/CD/cassette). Religious hymns are not allowed. Any song which devalues the moral or any kind of attack on religion, person or country is not permitted.

The participants will be divided into two groups - men and ladies category.

Six semi-finalists will be selected from each group by a panel of qualified judges during the preliminary rounds held on June 21.

Participants should confirm that they are free of all professional obligations during the competition and that they can travel and stay in Doha, Qatar; for the grand finale.

Only box guitar will be allowed for preliminary rounds, to be arranged by the participant. No electronic instruments allowed.

All songs to be sung in Konkani and from memory (without referral).

The song should not exceed 3½ minutes, including music in the preliminary rounds.

5. The decisions of the judges are final and shall not be contested.
