CBI Judge Suspended for Taking Bribe to Grant Janardhana Reddy Bail

Hyderabad, Jun 1 (IANS): Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur has suspended a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special judge on corruption charges and ordered an inquiry against him, officials here said.

First Additional CBI Judge T. Pattabhi Ramarao allegedly received Rs.5 crore for granting bail to former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy, the key accused in Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) illegal mining case.

Ramarao had granted bail to Reddy May 12. The mining baron, however, remained in Bangalore jail in another illegal mining case.

The high court chief justice took action against the judge Thursday after the CBI lodged a complaint with him, according to officials.

The CBI reportedly found that the bribe money was stashed in bank lockers of the judge's kin.

The investigating agency has asked the concerned banks not to allow the judge or his kin access to the lockers.

The high court has asked the suspended judge not to leave Hyderabad without informing it.

The chief justice also ordered a probe by the legal department and the anti-corruption cell.

CBI Court Principal Judge A. Pullaiah has been given additional charge of the first additional CBI judge.

Ramarao granted bail to Janardhana Reddy while presiding over the second additional CBI court in the absence of the regular judge.

There was only one CBI court in Hyderabad till last month. Three additional courts were formed to deal with the increasing number of cases. Justice B. Nagamurthi Sharma, who was the judge of the special CBI court, was appointed second additional CBI judge.

The OMC case was transferred to CBI principal court. However, Janardhana Reddy requested that since Nagamurthi Sharma had been hearing the case all along, the case be transferred to him. As Sharma was on leave, Ramarao heard Reddy's bail plea and granted him the bail.

The mining baron was arrested by the CBI Sep 5 last year in a case of illegal mining by his Obulapuram Mining Company in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. He was lodged in Chanchalguda Central Jail, Hyderabad, but was last month shifted to Bangalore in connection with another case.

Nothing new. Most of the Judges take money or accept gifts / free foreign travel for the family, in return for favourable orders. This is nothing new. If you don't pay then orders will not be passed or signed.

    Our Judiciary is corrupt.

With all these serious charges, BJP Maha-Crook Janardhana Reddy will get sentences from different courts for more than 100 years in jail.
How come other Reddy brothers are free? Why have the court not attached all the assets of the Reddy brothers including their palatial homes in B'lore, Bellary and many Benami properties in other metropolitan cities in India and abroad.

    Rakesh Shetty,

What do you say... BJP minister offering bribe of Rs 5 Crore just to become a free man. Where this money came from... Judiciary is corrupt too. Its a very dangerous sign for our our country. If we lose our faith in judiciary, thats the endo of every thing.. No one will get justice and only those who can buy judges can buy the favourable judgememnts... Please shoot at the judge who is supposed to be the guardian of justice... Kill him instantly or send him to jail never to come back. Give him jail roon adjacent to Gali Reddy....BJP govt influenced the judge and has actively participated in making under the table deal... Sarvanash ho gaya hamara judicial system... Hamko abhi kranthi ki sakth zaroorarth hai... Anna Hazare cant bring about changes. Only people of Indian can. We need revolution like Arab springs....We the educated class should take the lead and bringn about changes. We dont need to be ruled by illiterate and corrupt bureuacrats and politicians...We need federal democratic system and we need bi party system... we need corruption free rule...We need peoples rule and not politicians rule...Jai hind and vande mataram...

Haa the judgement in this case would read something like this
    'For 'lowering the bar'CBI Judge
    T.Pattabhi Ramarao is stripped of
his 'patta' or 'post' for stripping it for personal gains and obviously receiving favours.
    It is further observed that....
    and so on....

I happened to read an article couple of years back where the supreme court had made a very serious comment of the lower courts in India as the root of all corruption where evidences are destroyed and witnesses are threatened. These are the leaders who are the lawmakers of the state and country are the law breakers. In fact the BJP leaders can be and will be more dangerous than the congress leaders. We expected good governance from BJP but it has turned otherwise. Now the Voters have to think twice before they cast their votes in 2013 election. It is time the election commissioner brings in the rule of "Right to REject". The voters are bad and the leaders too are bad. The voters are bad because they sell their votes in exchange for liquor and money, whereas the leaders start the looting once elected to recover their cost of election. This revelations has to be seriously taken note by people of the country.

These shameless creatures are created by congress under the banner of CBI. Hope now you understood why we hate congress.

Congress misused CBI for their party benefit. CBI judges came to know the are puppet of congress. Being LAW PROTECTORS they realized they have no value. That made them to accept bribes.

When Jagan came out of Congress, they ordered CBI probe to finish him politically. Why can't they do same enquiry for SMK, Dharm Sing, Chidu, Sibal, PM if they are really worried about corruption?

This is the clear example for "FENCE EATING CROPS"

Congress led CBI consists of only these kind of people.

This is the clear picture on why Chidambaram, PM, Kapil Sibal, SMK and others were not arrested. Imagine how much Kalmadi and raja would have paid to CBI judges.

Also just think how much Kasab and Afgal Guru would have paid to congress for not being hanged..
