Udupi: MLC Elections - S P Dinesh from Cong to Contest for Graduates Constituency

Treasurer of Shimoga DCC, S P Dinesh, BCom, LLB, will the candidate for Congress for the graduates constituency in the coming Karnataka state legislative council elections.

The six districts under this constituency are Shimoga, Udupi, Chikkamagalur, Mangalore, Kodagu and Davangere.

Addressing a press meet held here on Friday June 1, Dinesh said that for the past 23 years he has been an active member of the Congress, and was confident of winning the legislative council (upper house) elections.
 
About 57,000 graduates are registered as voters under the constituency covering 6 districts, he revealed. Previous year it was 32,000.
 
"For past ten months I have been doing all I can to find voters and help them to register. I have got good response. I have been getting voters from all 6 districts - Shimoga 25,000, Chikmangalore 12,000 , Udupi 6,000, Mangalore 3,500, and Kodagu 2,000.
 
He also said that he wanted to start a district-wise 'Graduate Bhavana', which could be used as exam training center with free computers and centers for poor and help the youngsters to get jobs through job link. "For the purpose of local employment, there should be legal cells in all departments and centralized valuation for all universities in Karnataka," he added
 
He also opposed the new system of seat allotment in CET medical and engineerig  counseling system, wherein, he said, students will have to choose between 4 to 5 colleges. Online counseling was a good choice for students to choose any college as per their financial condition, he added.
