Mangalore, Jun 2: BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar on Saturday June 2 criticised the central government for not helping Karnataka during drought and not giving enough funds to ease the situation.

He was addressing reporters at Sharada Vidyalaya where he addressed the teachers and urged them to vote for BJP candidates D H Shankaramurthy and Capt Ganesh Karnik in the upcoming MLC election.

"The central UPA government did not do enough for the state when drought had hit 124 taluks in 23 districts."

Training guns on Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, he said that both had visited the state to assess the drought situation and that the state had expected some help, but neither helped.

He said the UPA government should 'stop playing politics' and show concern towards the people.

"The state suffered a loss of Rs 6,000 crore due to the drought, and a request of Rs 1,500 crore was put before the centre by the state. The centre agreed to release Rs 280 crore, but in the end the state received only Rs 70 crore," he said.

He further alleged, "The state was in need of 3 lac metric tonnes of rice and 25,000 metric tonnes of flour, but the centre did not give even a quarter of it."

Karnataka housing board chairman G T Deve Gowda and BJP MLA Aiyanur Manjunath were present.

If there is will there is a way to solve the problem both by UPA and Karnataka Governments. But both Governments might have analyzed the vote bank in those Districts and realized that no way their vote makes difference to them. Let the Reddy Brothers come out from Jail and ask them to adopt 9 Districts to develop from their own funds and UPA Government withdraws all CBI fake cases and you see the differences. Likewise one each remaining Districts to all former CMs’ and Ministers of Karnataka to invest from their own funds to develop the Districts. Even GOD might say that his presence is no more required in those Districts to solve the people problems because of this severe Drought situation. Almost all Indian Politicians stake their ill wealth in Swiss or Italian Banks but little did they realized that after their death these wealth no way useful to their immediate kin unless they kept in their kin’s name

Is PALEMAR permanently severed from official BJP?

Fine, Mr Anath Kumar and fair enough! But what your MLAs and ministers did while half of the Karnataka under severe drought? They were in resorts, five star hotels enjoying SPA services...Forget that when Central assessing officials came to sate no MLAs or Ministers accompanied them to the drought hit areas....a attitude certainly condemnable....on't talk of politics while your MLAs in last four years made enough politics and drama undermining development and basic needs of the people.
