Mangalore: Wild Buffalo Revisits Airport Runway!

Mangalore: Wild Buffalo Revisits Airport Runway!

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (PS)

Mangalore, Jun 3: The wild buffalo that had entered the runway at the Bajpe airport on Thursday May 31 once again made an appearance at the runway on Saturday June 2 at around 9 pm.

It may be recalled on May 31, chaos erupted on the runway after the wild buffalo was spotted in the morning and was chased into the valley.

Wild buffalo that's troubling the airport officials

On June 2, the buffalo entered the runway at night, but was spotted immediately and chased into the valley again. Flight operations remained unaffected.

An intense hunt for the buffalo will be carried out on Sunday June 3, sources said.

It is learnt that the forest department had advised the airport officials to extend height of the boundary wall, but it has not been done so. It is also said that trees in the surrounding forest area are being cut of late, due to which the buffalo wandered outside its habitat.

Forest officials also arrived at the spot.

Speaking to Daijiworld, airport director M R Vasudeva however denied that the incident took place.

The comment of airport director M R Vasudeva makes no sense. It is in the media that the wild buffalo revisited Mangalore airport runway and you deny that nothing like that happened. The airport officials are just waiting for an accident to happen on the runway whereby the buffalo will come on the way while a plane is landing or taking off. Get rid of that animal as soon as possible before something bad happens. Prevention is better then cure.

Jokes aside. What are the authorities doing? Why is this animal coming on the tarmac so frequently, it could cause a very serious accident endangering human lives?

The buffalo should be found, tranquilized and moved away from the vicinity to safer place, it is a great danger to aviation should it encounter an aircraft. Secondly, the runway must be fenced and cordoned off all animals. We have not gotten over the first crash and we will not be able to handle a second one so soon.

Animal rights people, especially Maneka Gandhi will raise a voice agianst those who attack or kill Wild Buffalo. So,Be Careful. Please send Bajrang Dal to guard Airport boundary, anyway they don't have any work, let them do good service to the nation and people.

If the strong fence is not provided for the boundary of airport or its runway then not only the buffalo any animal can enter inside boundary, runway, or anywhere in the Airport.
Otherwise Investigate If there is any terror links to this buffalo!

I think it's time you boycott Air-India Express. I flew jet airways via mumbai and I am so happy with the service that I don't mind waiting for long hours in transit. Guys, If Anna Hazare is fighting for corruption in India, atleast you can do your bit by showing Air-India that you don't need their service anymore unless they bring in parity and reduce the air-fare as that of a budget airline which starts at 40-60% of a regular airline, And start serving quality food at market price.

An intense hunt for the buffalo will be carried out on Sunday June 3, sources said. VERY FUNNY!!!
It took so many years to find Veerappan in the forest by deploying Army, Police Force, Helicopters etc. Do you think it is possible to catch the buffalo on 3rd June'2012?
This can be solved easily and economically without wasting much energy, time and money. Airport Authorities (Security) just relax on their Chair and use this Formula:
    * Demolish the boundry wall from one side (anyhow it need to be hightened later).
    * Put some Grass on the runway.
    * Allow the Buffalo to move on the runway freely.
    * Within a day it's family also will join this buffalo at the Airport and depart to it's native together (One way).
    * Now hire some contractor to construct the boundary wall.

Note: Suspend all the flight operations until then. Don't bother about the passengers. Passengers through Mangalore Airport are already trained by Air India Express, Kingfisher to cope with Flight Cancellations, Delays, Pilot Strike Etc.

    BUFFALO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT!!!

May be it is wondering so many people like buffalos are leaving INDIA and going abroad.
May be the buffalo also wants to go to Abroad. for better job prospectus. Since all the forest and trees are cut by stupid humans, he may be left with no grass. Request the authorities to arrage a visa and ticket for buffalo for dubai!!!
I wish him all the best in his future endevour.

Indeed, Mr. Rakesh. This time it seems you are right.

Buffalo stressing the authorities, how poor your security is ? When a huge bodied like me can enter through the boundary wall / fence, terrorist can easily sneak in.

Airport director is denying the incident. This again shows he is trying to cover the corruption took place in developing / building the new airport.
