Mangalore, Jun 3: Mangalore City Corporation officials on Sunday June 3 continued their crackdown on illegal business in the city, this time taking to task an owner of a slaughter house in Kudroli.

The officials raided the slaughter house in an early morning operation, at around 5.30 am.
As many as 12 officials including health inspectors led by MCC joint commissioner Srikanth Rao raided the abattoir and seized 26 sheep and skin.

Minor tension prevailed in the area when people gathered and the owner of the slaughter house Noor Mohammed refused to obey the officials and tried to stop them from raiding. He argued that no slaughtering activities was carried out and it was only used for storage of animal skins and to stock sheeps and goats.

When asked to produce the bills for the skin and trade license he failed to produce and argued that he had been running his business for past 40 years without any licence, "Why should one have licence for stocking the skins and animal herd in one's own campus?" he questioned.

However, the officials said that prima-facie, it was evident that illegal acitivies were being carried out, and succeeded in sealing the abattoir for running illegally.

The officials then went across to Central Market and inspected the meat stalls. Meat supplied by the MCC slaughter house carries a seal, and the officials checked the stalls to find out where the meat was coming from. Nothing was found amiss, however, the owners of the stalls were told to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.

Speaking to Daijiworld,  health inspector Bharat Kumar said that there were four more illegal slaughter houses running illegally in Kudroli, and they would be raided soon.

The sheep seized from the slaughter house were later taken to MCC slaughter house.

Sushanth, Santhosh, Karunakar, Yashwanth, Nirmala, Ramu, Poovappa, S N Bhat, and Manjunath Shetty were among the officials who conducted the raid.

You have rightly said, after viewing couple of pictures at one site, that you will stop eating meat
Then you should see the vegetable you are going to eat after you take the above decision or the fish you are going to eat - where they grow/where they rear - how it is transported to the wholesale market and how it is stored there. How Rats/rodents are there in those warehouses - what all things these rodents do on those vegetables and also human beings join them to certain extent.

Fish is from those canals where every dirty thing is thrown/made etc etc - then the ice which they use to keep the fish hard and fresh looking - it contains poison. Check the containers in which the fish is stored - god only knows when they cleaned those. Now what are u going eat - everything is so dirty, unhygenic.

Go to buy chicken - see the place where they clean the chicken - That you do not care right - because u do not notice it.

Slaughter house usually looks like this - but they clean it at the end of the day. But little bit away from these places - I think it is dirty - the water/blood etc washed from the s/house goes and collects there.
But meat i'll buy from there - it is clean

Guys lets not talk about who qualification is what? The important issue is genuineness of trading, Hygiene.

Though it is disturbance and nuisance for sincere and honest people, still I feel similar type of raids should be conducted from time to time. Can someone clarify, how many of us were aware of such type of happenings in Mangalore. I preseme if at all!

At least by doing this, some sort of awareness is spread within mangalorians and others who are regular readers / visitors of this site.

Almost all our valued commentators fails to understand that these raids are conducted as per the orders of Dr K Harish Kumar, Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) but nothing to do with Mayor Gulzaar Bano. No doubt one report will go to Mayor but her permission is not required at all since Commissioner is more qualified and dignified Officer to carry out such duty. How one can imagine that 10th or 12th Grade Mayor can order KAS or IAS Grade Officer to do his duties. Gulzaar Madam may be fuming at his action since some of the food outlets might be belongs to her relatives or friends or party workers

With so many raids going around in Mangalore, one can imagine what was the scenario all these days. We should all support Shreemati Gulzar Banu in this Herculean task of clean up of the system.
If congress is serious about clean administration, they should give ticket to Mr. Gulzar Banu in the upcomming assembly elections.

YOUR MAYOR GULZAR IS ONLY GOOD FOR INAUGURATING SHOPS, ATTENDING FUNCTION.

NOW SHE IS BUSY IN MAKING MONEY DEALING WITH HAFTA WITH HOTEL OWNERS AND POOR PEOPLES.

BETTER SHE COULD FOLLOW HER DUTY AND RESPONSIBILTY. ONLY MAKING RAID IN EVERYWHERE IS NOT MCC WORK.

JUST LIKE CBI( CONGRESS BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION), NOW MCC IS ALSO TURNED OUT TO BE MCC( MONEY CLAIMING CENTER).

MY QUESTION IS WHY MCC NOT CONCENTRATING CLEANILESS IN CITY AND WHY THEY ALLOWING TO WORK CHILD LABOUR, LET THEM RAID THAT ALSO.IT CLEARLY SHOWS HERE ALL ARE IN BUSINESS MIND.

All unhygienic and unauthorized food outlets and slaughterhouses should be closed down immediately and to be penalized and strictest of actions should be taken if found guilty put them behind the bar for life! Irrespective of they belong to any caste or religion. The public should be well aware that these sorts of health hazard outlets are dangerous to general public. Cleanliness is most important especially a city like Mangalore and Udupi for that matter any city in India.

Now most of all these stalls are raided by MCC authorities with the support of New Mayor. Really MCC is required such a sincere Mayor only.

As long as MCC maintain the hygienic condition of any food outlets, we have to appreciate them for their action even though some community or people will feel sad for this. MCC’s late action still much better than Never. Make a fear like situation in all illegal or unhygienic food outlets in Mangalore area so that they will not play with common public’s life
