Mangalore: City's 'Boyzone' Team Wins Rs 51-lac Grand Prize in 7UP 'Dance for Me'

Mangalore, Jun 5: 'Boyzone', a group of seven talented youngsters from Mangalore has won the '7UP Dance For Me' south-India level contest, bagging a cash prize of whopping Rs 51 lac! The seven talented members of ‘Boyzone’ are captained by Dikshith.

Soft-drink brand 7UP began an amazing journey more than two months back when it launched Dance For Me contest. That journey of UPtimism and dance culminated on Monday May 4 as 7UP brand ambassador and actors Allu Arjun and STR, along with actress Hansika Motwani declared ‘Boyzone’ as the winner of 7UP Dance For Me to win Rs 51 lac as cash prize.

With multiple city and state auditions, the 7UP Dance for Me Contest reached out close to 4.3 million people to make it a true UPtimistic dance extravaganza. Seven teams were selected from a total of 1,365 teams from across 21 cities in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala on the basis of the judging parameters and online voting by consumers. The teams went through multiple rounds before the best of the best were selected to perform in front of 7UP brand ambassador and actors Allu Arjun and STR. At each round, 7UP made sure all the teams remained UPtimistic by sharing customized goodies. Finally, the winner of Dance for Me, ‘Boyzone’ were awarded Rs 51 lac and the other six teams won themselves IPods, X-Box and prestigious participation certificates.

Speaking at the grand finale, an ecstatic captain Dikshith of the winning team ‘Boyzone’ said, "We are thrilled to win 7UP Dance For Me! It was a dream come to true to perform in front of Allu Arjun and STR. We have worked very hard to get here and this means a lot to all of us. Thanks 7UP!”

Actor and 7UP brand ambassador Allu Arjun commented at the 7UP Dance For Me grand finale, "We saw a well deserved win by Team Boyzone. All 7 members were a treat to watch and were beautifully coordinated. The other six teams also displayed some wonderful talent and it was very difficult for us to choose one winner. I want to encourage all participants to continue to infuse positivity and UPtimisim through dance, as it is one of the most expressive forms of art."

Dance enthusiasts registered at their city auditions in teams of seven and the top two teams qualified for the regional finale in Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. One more team from each city was selected through online voting by consumers for the regional finales. Then the top two teams from the three regional finales and one wild card entry, again through online voting by consumers, were selected as the finalists. They were given a chance to take part in a specialized dance workshop in Chennai to get them ready for the biggest dance-off.
