Govt Unveils New Plans for AI's International Operations

New Delhi, Jun 6 (PTI): Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh today unveiled new plans for international operations of strike-hit Air India including starting of two new flights to Kuala Lumpur and London and resuming of operations to Hong Kong, Osaka and Seoul by August 1.

The Minister also announced that three Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft will be inducted this month.

"For the initial six to eight weeks, the first aircraft will be used on domestic routes to enable trainees to practice landings and take-offs and the first long-haul flight of the aircraft will be in August between Mumbai and London and Australia operations will commence in August-September." Singh told a press conference here.

On the strike by a section of Air India pilots, he said as far as the government was concerned, it was over.

"If Air India pilots want to come back, they were welcome but there should be no pre-condition," Singh said.

He said the striking pilots have opposed the Dharmadhikari report on turnaround plans for the state-owned airline and if they do not accept it, "then there is no point in their coming back".

Asked about the fate of sacked pilots, he said that they have been "terminated" and they will have to apply afresh, if they want to come back.

No plans on earth will bring our national carrier AIR INDIA out of the red. Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh should first make new plans in the management as lot of corruption is going on and it is overstaffed with unwanted and useless people who got the jobs through high influence. My best advice is close down AIR INDIA completely before it incurs more losses.

Air India should immediately sell 65% of their share capital to any reputed MNC. The public should not allow further losses of tax payer’s money.
The company is over staffed the employees of AI cheat the company, the Govt servants from Babus to Ministers misuse & mishandle the Govt run Air-India Inc. Any companies if not viable, please dissolve it or sell to any interested party. The Govt has no moral right to spend public money without any account of feasibility.
Air India is a RADERLESS COMPANY which is sick and unfit.

Mr. Ajit Singh, please concentrate on the Gulf sector, restore Air India, Air India Express and allow Indian private players to operate so as to reduce burden on a single airline like AIE (strikes)and increase competitivness which will benefit the expat Indian. A family of 3 pays more than a lakh for a return ticket to travel to India from the Gulf., as almost half of the Indians here are doing menial jobs, a humble request to kindly revise the fares. There are over 10 million Indians in the Gulf.

O Maharaja, Gulf Sectors gives more turnover and profits but why did you cancel more flights from Gulf Sectors only? You feel the hot coming to Gulf but it keeps your pocket warm too. Pls resume all flights from Gulf Sectors as usual. Pls do not spoil the summer vacation mood of lakhs of Indians in Gulf Region. If not possible pls give flying rights to Air Arabia or Fly Dubai Air Lines to operate in those routes too

Let Mr. Ajith Singh profit and loss account of Air India atleast for the last 3 years .Let the people decide whether they want Air India or not.

AIR INDIA IS OPERATING BECAUSE OF TAX PAYERS MONEY AND THE MANAGEMENT NEVER BOTHERED ABOUT THE PROFIT OR LOSS !!! THIS ANOTHER WHITE ELEPHANT WHICH SHOULD BE HANDOVER TO THE PRIVATE INSTITUTIONS WHICH MIGHT BE TURN INTO A PROFITABLE BUSINESS AS THE AIRINDIA ENJOYING THE MOST OF IMPORTANT ROUTES AROUND THE WORLD!!! AIRINDIA EXPRESS IS GOT VERY EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT TO CANCEL THE FLIGHTS DURING THE PEAK SEASON AND DECLARING THE LOSS !!!
