Mangalore: Police Seize 30 Barrels of Unauthorized Kerosene

Mangalore, Jun 6: Pandeshwar police on Wednesday June 6 raided a shed in Hoige Bazar here and seized 30 barrels of unauthorized blue kerosene that is meant for distribution among the poor.
In this regard, Damodhar Karkera, the owner of the shed was taken to task by the police. The illegal stock was stored at Bhagath Dingh road, Hoige Bazaar.
It is learnt that the stock of kerosene is illegally stored especially in the monsoon season and sold to the nearby boat owners.
However, the accused claimed that the stock had come from Mangalore Trawl Boat Fishermen Primary Cooperative Society and belonged to Gillnet Boats.
"This shed belongs to me, and as a rent I get Rs 100 for every barrel," Karkera claimed.
Pandeshwar police have regsitered a case, but no arrest has been made so far.
