UAE: Manipal University, Dubai Introduces Maestro Scholarships

Dubai, Jun 7: Manipal University (MU), Dubai, the leading multi-disciplinary Indian university in the Middle East, has instituted a unique annual academic scholarship called 'Maestro' (Manipal Academic Excellence in Schools Trophy), for meritorious students in the UAE.

In 2012, MU, Dubai will be conferring six Maestro scholarships to the UAE toppers of Science, Commerce and Humanities at both CBSE and ICSE level schools.

In recognition of the students’ and their schools’ scholastic achievement, recipients of the annual scholarship will be conferred the Maestro Award for the year while the school that they represent will be awarded the coveted Maestro trophy.

In addition to the award and trophy, the chosen students will be given a full tuition fee waiver throughout their course in their chosen discipline of study at Manipal University, Dubai.

Dr B Ramjee, Director, Manipal University, Dubai, met with several school administrators, principals and counsellors to seek their input and feedback on this new concept. Explaining the reason behind the establishment of the Maestro Scholarship, Dr Ramjee said, “In line with our proud heritage and institutional legacy of philanthropy in the field of education, Manipal University is pleased to offer Maestro scholarships to meritorious students across the UAE. This is one of the many initiatives that Manipal University is undertaking to encourage bright young minds and to thank the community for the faith and confidence they have reposed in us for more than a decade of academic excellence we have provided to them. ”

In addition to the Maestro scholarship, there are a range of other scholarships also being offered to meritorious students across all boards based on their performance in the 12th grade board exams:

Students scoring above 95% are eligible for a 30% tuition waiver of 1st semester fee.
Students scoring between 90% and 95% are eligible for a 25% tuition waiver of 1st semester fee.
Students scoring between 80% and 90% are eligible for a 20% tuition waiver of 1st semester fee.
Students scoring between 70% and 80% are eligible for a 20% tuition waiver of 1st semester fee.
Scholarships are extended beyond the 1st semester subject to the students meeting Manipal University Dubai’s academic norms.
Sports scholarships are also offered to students with a stellar track record in sports events.

Manipal University, Dubai confers scholarships in excess of AED1 million per year towards deserving students and has over 150 students or approximately 10% of the total student enrolment, presently studying on a scholarship at the university.

This is in line with the group’s philosophy of recognising and rewarding meritorious achievements amongst students.

At Manipal University, India, the home campus of MU, Dubai, the annual scholarship disbursements are approximately AED12 million (INR160 million).

    Sivanarain what is the meaning of your first question? If you are not aware of the location of this univesity, then why did you ask if it is accredited by Dubai govt.?

    Where this university is located? Is it a branch of any Indian University. Is it an accredited and recognised university by Dubai Government under Ministry of Education. Students and parents please check before joining any educational institutions whther in UAE, India or all over the world.
