I don't think its PVC pipes, PVC pipes cant exert so much momentum, might be GI pipes.
The reason being Very Poor engineering safety in placing the pipes.
There is no rock shield between the dumping bed and drivers cabin.
No design consideration for proper tie up of pipes on to the dumping bed according to the loading and breaking momentum.
How can something so serious be taken lightly, Just a sudden break and a such a big mishap.

Justin brother..you are wrong.Blessing from God is very important to start any work and every religion follows it.Being hindu,i advised Ganahoma in this case because Ganapati is the vigna vinashaka in hinduism. So, christians or muslims can pray or offer pooja in their own style. No problem.Ultimate aim is no death or accidents on the road.At the same time I appreicate your scientific points..I follow scientific and religious rules together.

Jaimini, Ganahoma wont help to reduce these accidents. Stupidity of the people and do not care attitude of people and authorities on safety issue is responsible for these kind of accidents, Drive Test for the drivers, should be strict and they should put on certain amount of hours(logged) before getting their license, and should be trained on Road safety, Heavy penalties should be introduced for offence instead if Ganahoma or any kind of prayers.

Government's claims to curb road fatalities clearly don't bear out in the nationwide loss of 390 lives daily. While, 17 lives were lost in road accidents every hour last year, the corresponding figure was 15 for 2010.

Government sources said the latest figures from all the states and Union Territories, which will be published soon, show that at least 1.42 lakh people died in road accidents in 2011, an increase of over 7,000 from 2010.

I feel that the RTO should lay down strict norms for trucks carrying heavy objects.
There should have been and extra barricade set up made up of a steel plate between the cargo and the drivers cabin.
    Very sad accident indeed.

SO SAD TO SEE AND REALLY BAD INCIDENT.

NOW A DAYS ACCIDENTS CONTINUING DAILY .

WE HAVE TO STOP THIS NON STOP ACCIDENT BY TAKING PRECAUTIONS.

DURING RAIN SEASON ACCIDENT CASES ARE DOUBLE. SPECIALLY IN MANGALORE TO KUNDAPUR HIGHWAY.

LAST YEAR, WE FOUND 49 ACCIDENT CASES IN THIS ROAD AND FOUND 22 PEOPLE DEAD.

NOW THIS IS THE TIME TO WAKE UP AND TAKE CARE BY THEMSELVES.

SOMETHING WE CAN SAVE FROM THE DANGER IF WE TAKE ALERT THIS MATTER.

    Safety is first!!!
This trailer is not designed to carry break bulk cargo or pipes.
To carry any pipes or metal channels you need to install Guarder in between drivers cabin and trailer that is both end of trailers and also both sides too because it is very dangers to side walker and other vehicles too. Without guarder police should not allow to carry out these things and especially on highways.
Our traffic department is not checking these things.

THIS IS THE MISTAKE OF THE POLICE DEPT., THEY SHOULD NOT ALLOW THE TRUCK WITH NAKED CONDITION, SHOULD BE TIED AND WITH THE SIGNAL THEY WOULD HAVE LEFT THE TRUCK ON HIGHWAY WITH PRECAUTION.
