Udupi, Jun 7: Sri Vidyvallabhateertha Sripada of Chitrapura Math on Thursday June 7 appointed Sri Vidyendrateertha Sripada as his successor and 19th Peethadhipati of the Math.

The rituals related to the event were conducted for three days, culminating on Thursday.

The third son of Narayanacharya of Teerthahalli in Koteshwar, Laxminarayana was named as Sri Vidyendrateertha and successor to Sri Vidyavallabhateertha according to tradition.

Vedamurthy Herga Vedavyasa Bhat officiated the ceremony. A large number of well-wishers were present.

    The discussion roled out by Vidyabhushana to restrain from annointing under aged to the sanyasa has long dead. I personally feel it should be treated at par with Child Marriage.

    Too young to take a decision to become a swami!!If a man is said to be "not matured" to chose his life parter and marry before reaching 21 , how can he take such a complex step of embracing sanyasa at this tender age ?
