Udupi, Jun 9: Of all those true-life incidents that fashion after Bollywood flicks, the case of Rajesh Anchan alias Sukumar aka Harish Kinnigoli perhaps takes the cake.

The man, known by three or more different names, is said to have married eight women, started families with almost all of them, only to vanish with their gold and money!

He would have continued conning women, if not for an advertisement in a Kannada daily.

In what reminds one of the movie Ladies Vs Ricky Behl (though Ricky was at least decent),  Rajesh Achan's true colours were exposed when one of the many women he married and abandoned came across a 'missing' advertisement in the paper, with his photo! The photo was his, but not the name.

On May 17, the ad was placed by Mani Anandady Shubha, who is seven months pregnant now, stating that her husband 'Sukumar' had gone missing. She even lodged a complaint in the Vittal police station.

When Revati of Bingre, Udupi saw the ad, she was surprised to say the least, for it happened to be her own missing husband 'Rajesh Anchan'

Revati then contacted Jaya Karnataka social service group, who immediately swung into action. The group conducted a widespread search for the man, spanning the length and breath of the region. Finally, on Friday June 8 night, he was found in Madikeri.

The Jaya Karnataka members informed Madikeri police and handed him over to Malpe police, where he will be produced before the court on Saturday Jun 9.

The women he married are Meenakshi of Deralakatte, Jayanti of Uppinangady, Prema of Punchalakadu, Revati of Bingre, Udupi, Revati of Malpe Kanyadi, Sunanda of Madikeri, Shubha of Mani and Shambhavi of Kasargod.

All the women except Jayanti have children, while Shubha is pregnant. He would tell each woman a sob story of having lost his parents, and claim to have different jobs with different women. He is basically a cook. Once he won his new wife's confidence, he would vanish with her gold, money and other valuables, leaving her with children. Shubha was the last woman he married.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, Shubha, Revati and Prema demanded that he should be given maximum punishment so that he never ruins another life again. If he is let off, he would continue cheating other women, they said.

Jaya Karnataka district president Diwakar Shetty said that apart from these women, there may be many more who he may have cheated. He urged the government to provide financial assistance to the ladies and assured that Jaya Karnataka too would help them.

Udupi district secretary of Jaya Karnataka Nagaraj Ghani was present.

Problem is grave but the solution is simple.1 .All the Marriage Buros should be registered and unregistered marriage agents should not be allowed to operate . 2.The Department of women and Child welfare should have a Database of all the women married along with the Photo of the them with the Husband and all those who want to marry should have an access to this database to verify as to wheather this Guy is Married already and should there be any Frauds Like Rajesh Anchan alias Sukumar aka Harish Kinnigoli their name and photo should be published with Red alert

I blame all the eight woman for marrying that man without looking into his background. Some woman get it hard to get a man for marriage and they go for any Tom, Dick and Harry and they offer whatever money they can afford. I even blame the parents otherwise how can that con man get married to eight women. That guy should be jailed for the rest of his life before he cheats more women and ruin their life.

Good job done by Jaya Karnataka. Fortunately, he did not kill any one of them. If other women have similar problems, they should immediately publish the photos of the persons "missing." What a horrible day for Shubha when she delivers the child to know that her "husband" is alive but not there when he is needed to share her feelings. May God Bless her and all the other women and give them the strength to overcome this unfortunate situation.

Because of our society, these poor girls fall a prey to marrying the first man that comes their way without checking or knowing his details. Matchmakers show them girls and these girls agree as they are worried about age, oh 24 yrs old, what my neighbour will say, girl is getting old, nor married, not getting boy, etc. with these fears the poor girls get married and these men take advantage of their situation. If girls are strong and say no, I have to check and do my due diligence check, then all this will not happen. If it is a matter of love, then it is blind love and there are no checks.

This may not be the only man. there will be hundreds more like him. Beware young girls. do not rush into marriage because you are worried about society and what your neighbours will say.

See these young girls, it is worse for them and now they have more worry on their heads, than they would have had if they had not married.

It is good that he is caught at least now. Where are the people now who are saying about Love Jehad and all. What about this kind of incidents. We should fight against problems of dowry, expensive marriages, unemployment, lack of education and promote co-hesive living.
