Petrol Prices to Come Down: Pranab

Kolkata, Jun 9 (IANS): Petrol prices are expected to come down with the rate of crude declining in the international market, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said Saturday.

The oil companies had May 24 hiked petrol prices by Rs.7.54 a litre, the steepest hike in many months. Later, the rate was cut by Rs.2.02 a litre.

Mukherjee, on his arrival here Friday night, said the central government would discuss the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority Bill with the Trinamool Congress and its president Mamata Banerjee.

"They have written to us wanting further discussion. So, let us discuss," he said.

Two days back, Trinamool general secretary and Railway Minister Mukul Roy had written to the prime minister and Mukherjee seeking more discussions on the bill. This prompted the cabinet to defer the legislation.
