Airtel Responds to Readers' Complaints - Assures SIM Reactivation

Airtel Responds to Readers' Complaints - Assures SIM Reactivation

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore/Dubai

Mangalore/Dubai, Jun 10: On June 5 last week, Daijiworld had published a letter complaining about the poor service by Airtel, India's leading telecom service company. Within minutes of the publication, other readers from around the world responded expressing similar experiences.

The unprecedented response from Airtel users compelled Airtel customer service from Gurgaon to respond online and assure that all cases will be attended to if the contact numbers are provided.

Kumar Fernandes, the reader who initiated the complaint through his letter was approached by Manmohan, a customer service executive from India, and apologized for the inconvenience caused. By providing a simple application form along with personal identity proof, he agreed to re-activate both the scrapped SIM cards and restore the full credit amount which they had at the time of disconnection.

Airtel also assured to investigate the arrogant behaviour of Airtel customer service in one of the branches in Udupi, where Kumar Fernandes faced inconvenience.

Airtel, through Daijiworld, have also assured that they have gone through the other complaints put forward by readers in the comments column, and could be contacted by the readers with an e-mail to Airtelpresence@in.Airtel.com to resolve their issues.

Kumar Fernandes, while thanking Daijiworld for highlighting the common man's problems, said that sometimes, people have the tendency to ignore the 'unfair' activities of telecom, or any similar kind of servive providers due to the 'small' or 'negligible' amount of money involvement. But these 'small' amounts from millions of people around the country bring the company huge profits in an 'unethical' manner.

Fighting for the right cause always bears sweet fruits, sometimes quickly and sometimes late.

We at Daijiworld thank our readers for participating in the debate related to consumer service issue.

    FAKE PROMISES MADE BY AIRTEL....

It is to inform you that even after publishing the news saying that Airtel, through Daijiworld, have also assured that they have gone through the other complaints put forward by readers in the comments column, and could be contacted by the readers with an e-mail to Airtelpresence@in.Airtel.com to resolve their issues.

They are not regretting the loss of customers instead giving fake promises that they shall get back your contact number....

i received a message saying that - we have not found any usage in your airtel prepaid mobile number 9591346578 for last 4months. hence, service on your number will be restricted with immediate effect sent by AX-AIRINF on 16 June 2012 at 09:46:56 am.

I had logged a complaint as my sim was disconnected by airtel on 16 June 2012 to Airtelpresence@in.Airtel.com

It was duty of the airtel to inform your costumer before disconnecting the connection and guide him to save his contact number instead of disconnecting the contact number without any prior notice and that too its very easy for your company to contact as you have no problem in contacting as the sim is used by the same registered person at least your company should have given seven days notice in prior notice before disconnection of the contact number 9591346578, Now i would like to ask you why complaint cant be logged against your company to the Honorable Consumer Court of India that Airtel is cheating people by disconnecting the preregister sim cards which also had amount and the sim was still valid at the time of disconnection....

People please stop complaining i know some people hang on to their number for business purpose but there is a trick jus make sure every 2 months request one of your family Members to put in some credit into your account so that way your number is secure and if possible jus send a text msg from your phone may be its that simple. and the companies got this recycle policy just because India is running out of numbers and the companies dont have a choise.. and people who go on holidays to India please its 2012 there are so many carriers and you can always switch from one to another and if no ones good you are on holidays so no phone no contyacts jus sit back and relax and i am sure you ll have a landline incase you want to contact your relatives

I think best solution is to keep the validity of sim card, like driving licence, and when its gets expired, concerned party must renew it within specified period of 3 months and so on. In this case 90% of problem of retaining the same no. will be solved. But bear in mind that Air tel should not empty the currrency by sending unwanted sms during his stay abroad. I hope Air tel management will see this message and do the needful to NRI's itherwise i dont thing people will franchise Airtel any more.

When there was a heated arguments going on in the Lok Sabha regarding 2G Scams, then Tele Communication Minister, Kabil Sibal justified the allocation of 2G Spectrum by saying that Common People only benefited by First come First serve policy since Spectrum allocation charges were very less though some of them sold the rights without operating the Spectrum for one day even. Now almost all Tele Communication Companies charge higher tariffs and rather they cheat Common Public instead of giving something. Here in this case, thanks to Mr. Kumar Fernandes who made much hue & cry and thanks to Daiji too for reporting the matter in Media and we got the response, else nobody would have been bothered to hear Customers grievance

Had KF taken up this issue by himself, mark my words just like the Govt dept we are made to run from pillar to Post which he did so with Airtel, he would never had got his problems solved. Today media has played greater roles in solving and taking up many issues like Corruption, murders, scams etc etc. I would consider today in the 21st century Media as the Gandhian that we had in the 20th Century.

They wont understand they can be put down same way as they have been to the top. Many have already bitten the dust, and this will not stop if the companies think they have a golden egg laying hen.

    O K.
We are ready to FORGIVE & FORGET THE PAST.
But in future DON'T Activate any new services without the customer himself asking or activating them.
Send an SMS informing the customer to reply whether he really has requested them, if they answer yes then only activate, otherwise don't.
We R Waiting How You treat us from now on, as we are not impressed by promises which we are showered with by all politicians during elections & are happily forgotten once they get elected.

I was using my Airtel No. for approx 2 Years in India as well as in UAE with out any problems. But suddenly, last week the display on my mobile shows "SIM Card registration failed". I called the airtel karnataka to resolve the issue but to no avail. They just did not have any answer to my problem. Then, i requested my cousin to check with local office in udupi. Where, they told him the sim might be damaged. But, FYI am using the same mobile and there is no way my sim can be damaged.

I wrote to airtel an e-mail (121@in.airtel.com) on june 5 and june 6 and I got a auto reply that they will respond with in 1 working day. But, till date i dont have any feed back. Today, i re-send the e-mail to Airtelpresence@in.Airtel.com, hope to get a response.

I kindly request Airtel via DAIJI to look in to this issue and sort out any problems and activate restricted services as I have this number logged in for financial institutions and also for many other purposes.

Thanks to good work done by he Daijiworld.com.But wait till it is implemented properly. This is just to silence the noise started. The funniest part is that these people disconnect when the NRIs recharge their cards after reaching India.
This happened to us about a year ago and just last week to my family member. It looks to me it is racket in the name security. I agree with the necessity of security for which they should disconnect before recharging.Anything is possible in India as there is no law and order for this type cheating and corruption.

Dear Readers, Higher Authorities : This cheating business of airtel is in their agenda, They involved so many higher authorities and big political leaders in their business and the profit divides with all these peoples. If u ask any individual who is having airtel sim is getting cheated every day, when they recharge their currency we noticed within 2,3 days about 50 to 60 Rs disappears from ur recharge. This amount they are deducting from our recharge amount on the name of subscription for which we never requested. This is they are doing deliberately to make millions of Rupees every month. After many complaints Our consumer authorities or other concern departments are never taken any action on them, Really Im fed up, and expecting some serious action to be against air tel for this malpractice.

AIRTEL AND AIR INDIA FLIGHT BOTH ARE SAME CLASS AND SERVICE ALSO SAME.

BETTER EVERYBODY SHOULD STOP USING THIS SERVICE. THIS SHOULD BANDH FOR PERMANENTLY.

Congratulations and thank you Kumar and daiji for highlighting the issue! Even I am facing this issue and everymonth I charge 110 rupees for the SIM held by my close relative in Dubai disappeares within a month! Atleast AIRTEL should have some mechanism whereby people living aboard give a simply declaration and the connection remains valid! Why they should disconnect when documents are given when SIM is purchased!? Also many cards are having life time validity which were purchased by 1000 as life time validity fee, when this is the case they should refund the amount along with interest if at all they disconnect and this is also against the law! Only people dont care to complain and keep quiet is the root cause of these problems!

Thank you very much Daijiworld team and Mr. Kumar Fernandes. I got prompt email replay from Airtel but with a wrong contact number (what they mentioned in their email is different than what I mentioned). I wish all of we will get our recycled SIM card number back and our currency also.

Response from Airtel is welcome. But this can only be a temporary consolation. The real status is, there are many such customers who have been cheated. I for example had got a mobile connection from Airtel under special scheme "life time incoming free", which was at higher rate but no condition of minimum usage per month. I thought that I could use it everytime I return to India. But unfortunately same shocking situation was happening. When I return to India, the line used to get diconnected, then go into the nightmare of calling their number struggele to convince the person, talk to the supervisor, fight on the line and finally forgo whatever balance was there while leaving India and start with fresh prepayment amount.
Finally one day Airtel informed me that the sim is sent for recycling etc. all that crap which happened with others. After great follow up, I could get back the sim number but changed the scheme to regular one. But everytime I leave India, I keep very little balance as otherwise Airtel eats all the left over money.
Readers are warned that never ever get into the same trouble. Never even touch the Airtel Dish TV. They will cheat you the same way as the mobile.
All these assurances are only an eye wash to make up their image and it will not be hounoured.
