Karkala tahsildar Jagannath Rao, circle inspector Valentine D'Souza, sub-inspector Azmat Ali and MLA Gopal bhandary visited the spot.

The blast reportedly occurred due to lightning which struck the shed where the explosives were stored. The impact of the blast was severe, to the extent  that the bodies of both the deceased people were charred completely body parts mutilated.

Two other sheds close  to the blast spot have also been completely damaged. Even the pillars of the shed were found to be scattered.

The rescue team had to strive hard to remove one of the bodies, as it was completely buried inside the mud and also continous rain caused hindrance to their rescue operations.

Very serious action to be taken against this , Few months before DC Hemalatha also visited and heard the difficulties faced by the residents.
Many Govt. officials will visit , as it is a tourist place. But on one have the guts to stop these activities.

These blasts vibration at Sooda-Nandalike can be felt at Nitte engineering college also, which is few kilometers away.
I could feel the vibration of my staff chamber window yesterday due to this stone quarry blast. I suppose there is not sufficient latest engineering practice for vibration reduction & safety consideration on these blast sites.

Just a couple of years back a similar incident would have happened in my neighbourhood. It was just because of a quick & brave fight by the villagers that stone quarry had been closed down. Most of the Govt.Machinery (Authorities) are having a very casual attitude for such things.
