Mangalore, Jun 20: In what was quite a blood-curdling incident, a bunch of human skulls and bones were found strewn on the roadside near KSRTC bus stand here on Wednesday June 20.

The skulls and bones created minor anxiety among the passers-by, and soon a considerably large crowd gathered at the spot.

It is suspected that the human remains may have been discarded by medical students or staff, as there is a medical college nearby.

Altogether, there were four skulls and a few bones of arms and legs.

Barke police arrived at the spot and took the bones into possession.

This is the second such incident reported in the city. Earlier in 2011, a bunch of human skulls and bones were found packed in a gunny bag near a garbage bin in Morgan's Gate.

Perhaps it is time the authorities step in and put a full stop on such ways of dumping human remains, for it is not only obnoxious, but quite capable of creating unnecessary panic among citizens.

No Surprise. Now a day human are killed and thrown away and not a single party tried to make an open debate on that issue. Skulls and bones are better than killing and throwing humans.

Time to call some good astrologist and find out who, why, and for what all these things are happening??????

This is one of the most ridiculous incident I have ever heard. How can anyone dump human skulls and bones near a public place like bus stand. Whoever did this should put behind bars. I am sure this is the work of some medical students. We do not know whose skulls and bones were they but they should have had some respect for the dead persons mortal remains.

They are not just the skulls and bones, but a reminder for all, to know our future, whether some one will throw us in the streets/get burried under the soil or be burned. Thats our real self. Hope those skulls and bones will be treated with respect.

It is evident and obvious tat the skeletal remains are those from a medical college. Normally students these days do not won skeletal sets or bones as they are not only hard to come by, but exorbitantly expensive. The skull alone costs around one-three thousand rupees. As such, those students that do possess sets guard them zealously. Unfortunately, there is a clandestine underground trade that exists in procuring and selling bones.
Unscrupulous private operators scour far and wide in their search for human bones and bring them to medical students for sale in private. A few non-teaching staff of medical colleges also indulge in this business, exploiting gullible first year medical / dental students by promising to deliver sets to them, either cheating them or procuring them elsewhere (stolen or unearthed).
Many of these shady characters bring skeletal remains by bus from other places: it is possible that panicking when confronted with possibility of search of packages or gunny bags (with bones) by cops at arrival in the bus depots – they abandon the sacks with their gory human remains and vanish from the scene.

These are bones used by medical and paramedical students to study anatomy, because sacral bone , scapula is also seen and the polished too. so not to worry , its not MCC s work alone to keep the enviornment clean its each one of our duty to kee MOTHER earth clean. The students should have atleast burried the bones in respect to the individual whose bones they belong to. sad this incident happens.

These bones are deffinitely from Medical students.

Forget about causing panic among citizens the Medical students are bound by Ethics to treat the human parts respectfully as the persons involved have willingly or unwillingly given their body parts for medical studies without which the students will be at loss.

This shows utter unethical behaviour on part of the students who have discared them on the road side.

its also the duty of all Anatomy teachers to impress upon their students the need to treat the human bones with due respect.
