Bangalore: Deve Gowda to Narrate 'Bitter Experiences' in Biography

Bangalore, Jun 21 (PTI): Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda said he would narrate his "bitter experiences" as a politician in a biography. The Janata Dal (Secular) supremo said he wants to record his life's bitter experiences for the next generation to read.

At present, the 79-year-old is spending an hour each day, dictating a draft of his experiences since childhood. State party spokesman Y S V Datta and two others are writing the biography, he told reporters here.

He regretted that a section of the political class had questioned his secular credentials after his son H D Kumaraswamy joined hands with the BJP to form a coalition government in Karnataka in 2006. It was projected as if Deve Gowda hatched a conspiracy to install his son as Chief Minister, he said.
Deve Gowda said he would throw light on the circumstances surrounding Kumaraswamy’s action, adding, state Congress leaders were trying to "break" his party at the time.

The JDS leader, who has not been keeping well, said he would tour the State in the third week of July.

He rubbished accusations by some BJP leaders that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda is being dictated by Deve Gowda’s family. "Sadananda Gowda has not spoken to me for four months", he said.

Deve Gowda attacked the BJP government for hosting the recent global investors' meet, which, he alleged, is aimed at grabbing land of poor people and dealing a blow to their livelihood.

"Those who are going on the road are saying they are investing Rs 50,000....Rs 75,000 crore...where the industries? How many industries have come?”, he asked, adding, industries were constructing a couple of buildings and then building a compound wall to the area.

He stressed that before clearing an industrial project, the requirement of land, electricity, water and connectivity should be assessed.

It was Congress courtesy which gave green Signal for HD Devegowda who made it to top post of Indian political history (PM)! Being an Kannadiga we are proud of him.

Likewise DVS's sudden elevation is 100% courtesy of BSY...Being an Kudlite we are proud of him.

In between the lines it is politics which neither creates friends nor foes permanently. However,BJP must always thankful to JDS in helping to lay foundation stone for the first ever BJP govt of Dakshina Bharath, particularly in Karnataka.JDS/HD.DEVEGOWDA/HDK will remain forever a reckoning power house as scenes of contemporary politics of Karnataka emerging in volatile day by day...

Mr.HDK's joining hands with the BJP in 2006 was a tit-for-tat for what Congress did during Mr. Deve Gowda's primeministership in 1997.
