IndiGo Awaits Mangalore Airport International Status to Fly Direct

Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai

Dubai, Jun 25: "When will Mangalore Airport become international officially?" Well, that is a million dollar question, but India's fastest growing airline IndiGo could well be the first private airline to fly Dubai - Mangalore directly, pending approval from the Indian government.

This was revealed by Aditya Ghosh, the young and charismatic president of IndiGo Airlines at a press conference held at Grand Hyatt to announce the daily direct flights from Dubai to Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi destinations. Currently, IndiGo has direct flight services to Delhi and Mumbai from Dubai.

Replying to a question from Daijiworld, Aditya Ghosh said that Dubai-Mangalore flight is their priority and that the process is in on. When he was further probed on the time frame for such a move, he said the flight operation would begin early next year, or before that if Mangalore Airport gets international status.

NRI Karnataka Forum co-ordinator Rajesh Sequiera, who has been in touch with various private airlines of India and the Gulf region to get Dubai - Mangalore connected directly, was also present during the press conference.

"It is sad that our own political leaders who hail from the coastal region, despite having enough power are not pressuring the government to announce Mangalore as an international airport. But the recent effort from newly-elected MP J P Hegde was encouraging. I am constantly in touch with him, and hoping for the best. All we need is a political leader to follow it up. J P Hegde has been doing the follow-up with central government," said Rajesh to daijiworld.

M K Lokesh, the Indian Ambassador of UAE and Mohamed Al Rais, deputy managing director of Al Rais Travel were present at the press meet.

The flights from Dubai to Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi are expected to be functional by August 2012. The second Daily and direct flight from Dubai to Delhi also will commence during August. Bookings are already open with effective from June 15 and the early bird return offer is in the introductory low range of AED 734.

India's profitable, economical and efficient IndiGo Airlines launched an Arabic website on the occasion. M K Lokesh, after launching the user-friendly website said, "IndiGo is known for his consistency and professionalism and I am pleased to see Indigo’s commitment to redefine the standards of airline business in the UAE."

Aditya Ghosh said, "The launch of Arabic website reflects Indigo’s commitment to the entire Middle East region and the importance it gives to growing ties between the two cultures. We will continue to work hard to enhance low-fare travel options between Indian and this region.”

I suggest that INDIGO connects Mangalore with Delhi via Mumbai or via Jaipur.Mangalore needs these connections to grow.Even our trains via the Konkan do not touch Jaipur. The closest they get is to KOTA , 3 hrs drive from Jaipur ( Rajdhani ) and Sawai Madhopur, also 3 hrs drive from Jaipur ( near Ranthambore National Park on Mangala Lahswadeep Exp. ).There are alot of Rajasthani's in Mangalore and doing Crores of Rupees worth business.

India has thousands of languages. But official languages are Hindi and English. You can not force anyone to learn any language in specific. The constitution does not say one should know Hindi or English to become MP.

There are language interpreters available to make communication easier for people from different states. Many use written communication to concerned authorities.

Nalin Kateel might be knowing only Kannada and Tulu. But you can not sideline him just because he does not speak English and Hindi.

Japan, Korea, China, Germany PMs do not speak English. But still they communicate with their counterparts of other countries thru interpreters.

Your Manamohana Singh knows both Hindi and English. But what is the use? Does he ever speak ????? Does he has the speaking capacity???

If you don't want us to criticize him, then he should not give any fake promises.

Oscar is good only for inaugrations, chief guest along with his wife on stage for cultural functions although his contribution towards his people is a big "ZERO". He is fit only for above activities and also trusted servant for present day Gandhi family. Can't expect anything from Moily or Oscar. Another useless guy sitting in Delhi is Muniyappa. Wishing IndiGo Airlines all the best and pray that Government will approve for the Dubai-Mangalore Flight..The cost will be surely less than Air India Express. Hope for the best.

I AM SURE THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN. GOVT WILL NOT APPROVE THIS ALSO.

AJITH AND CENTRAL TEAM STILL COULDN'T SOLVE 1 SMALL PROBLEM OF AI FLIGHT ISSUE.BIG SHAME TO UPA.

WE CAN'T EXPECT ANYTHING FROM THIS CORRUPT CENTRAL TEAM. WRONG PERSON WRONG CANDIDATES ACCOMMODATING ALL BIG POSTS.

I NEVER FIND ANY SINGLE TRUE LEADER IN UPA TEAM.VERY BAD AND BIG SHAME TO UPA AND INDIA BECAUSE OF THIS UPA TEAM.

ONLY WE CAN EXPECT AFTER 2012 ELECTION. THAT TIME BJP WILL LEAD IN CENTRAL.

THEY WILL RELEASE ALL HOLD PROCESS BACK TO TRACK.

INDIGO IS BETTER THAN AI FLIGHT. AI FLIGHT SHOULD BAN IN INDIA. IT IS ALWAYS GOOD FOR PLAYING HIDE N SEEK AND ALSO TAKING POOR PEOPLES LIVES.

There are more than 20,000 manglaoreans around Riyadh but no one cares to think about their Riyadh-Mangalore journey. It is a shame that this is not in any ones agenda.

    ITALIAN LED CONGRESS POLICY:

"ITALIAN LED CONGRESS WILL NIETHER DEVELOP INDIA NOR ALLOW OTHERS TO DEVELOP INDIA"

PRIVATE COMPANIES ARE ENOUGH FUND, ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE & ENOUGH WORK FORCE TO DO BUSINESS BUT DUE TO THE WORST POLICIES OF ITALIAN LED CONGRESS NOBODY IS COMING FORWRD TO INVEST IN INDIA.

If a MP like JP Hegde can put this effort just after months in term, then why not the veterens of our twin district Oscal & Moily dint do it untill now or what are they doing in Delhi ?. Being in the core circle of the AICC all htey did these years is washing utensils and gaurding the gates of Janpath. It needs one a will to do something good for the society, not just earbiting sitting there and giving Ideas to the leaders about how to divide the society & rule over it by playing votebank politics.

anyways compitition in IXE-DXB route is welcome news for all the expats in UAE. I hope atleast now the AI-EXP will give importance to word calld " Customer Relations/Service" & realise that they are in the service Industry.

Why only Dubai/UAE? - it's not the only city/countyr in the Gulf. I hope the airlines realise that there other cities in the Gulf - especially Riyadh / Dammam / Jeddah which are desperately in need of direct connection to Mangalore.

IF INDIGO STARTS DIRECT FLIGHT FROM MANGALORE TO DUBAI . THEN AIR INDIA EXPRESS WILL RUN IN LOSS . WITH NO PASSENGERS ONLY CREW FLYING TO DUBAI . WE DONT WANT AIR INDIA OR AIR INDIA EXPRESS TO START OPERATIONS FOR RIYADH OR JEDDAH . ANY PRIVATE AIRLINES LIKE JET AIRWAYS OR SAUDI GOVERNMENT OWNED SAUDI ARABIAN AIRLINES TO FLY TO MANGALORE .

PEOPLE SHOULD PRESSURE THE GOVERNMENT ON RUNWAY EXPANSION SO THAT MORE AIRLINES WILL OPERATE TO MANGALORE WITH THERE JUMBO FLIGHTS & FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS

This is good news for all mangaloreans! Who will fly with Air India Express once this flight is operational? AI should be reasonable to passengers while charging the air fare.

Muniyappa's trains never run on track. Moily and Oscar never bothered about this.

I hope and pray that it comes true and comes through too. We are fed up with blackmailing tactics of AIE and this is high time that we need change and competition in the sector.../We are ready to pay for good service but AIE charges more and gives nothing except the flight...

What a welcome news early in the morning. Thanks Daiji for your continuous effort to bring the early news nowhere to see in any other media. Can anyone send reminder to Moilyjee to expedite his claim for International Airport Status for Mangalore Airport? Since Aviation Ministry falls under Central Government I hope that Karnataka People will not blame BJP Government this time. God Bless Rajesh Sequiera too for his continuous effort to press for Dubai Mangalore Direct Flight at least by next week so that sole dependence on Air India Express will reduce the burden too
