Mangalore: Holy Hill Attack Pre-planned, will Take Strict Action - Political Leaders

Mangalore, Jun 26: Yogish Bhat, deputy speaker of legislative assembly on Tuesday June 26 condemned the attack on Holy Hill by miscreants on the night of Sunday June 24, and said strict action will be taken to trace the miscreants.
Addressing reporters after paying a visit to Holy Hill, he said, "I have asked police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh to take up the investigation immediately and seriously. I cannot tolerate such acts that degrade holy places and hurt the sentiments of the faithful, especially in my constituency."
Condemning the attack, he said that the district was peaceful for more than a year. "Detailed inquiry will be carried out not only to trace the miscreants but also to find out the intention behind the attack," he assured.
Accusing the Sangh Parivar, senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary after his visit to Holy Hill said, "The incident is purely deliberate and pre-planned. By their action, they have disrupted peace and the sanctity of the place. The incident is a great stain on democracy is aimed at provoking communal disharmony."
"I have experienced a lot of pain from the consequences of such incidents earlier. Therefore, acts like these should not recur in the future. I request the law and police department to take up proper investigation immediately," he said.
He also requested mayor Gulzar Banu, who was also present, to provide help from the city corporation. In addition, he said, "This place (Holy Hill) is so calm and peaceful; the city corporation should take steps to improve it and make it a pilgrimage centre."
Deepak Poojary, opposition leader of MCC, Naveen D’Souza, Nagendra Kumar, corporators were also present.
Denis D’Silva, president of International Federation of Karnatka Christian Associations (IFKCA) requested the leaders to take appropriate legal action and ensure safety to churches in the future.
