Doha: Young Talents Shine at KSQ Talent Search Contest

Doha, Jun 28: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) organized its annual 'Talent Search – 2012' recently for children hailing from state of Karnataka at Skills Development Centre and at Indian cultural Centre. 

A grand finale involving prize distribution ceremony was held recently at Skill Development Centre. The event received an overwhelming response with more than 150 children taking part in 7 cultural events and 3 indoor sports events in different categories.

Drawing, written quiz, singing, dancing, fancy dress and elocution competitions were held at Skills Development Centre on June 8 while indoor sports events were held on June 15 at Indian Cultural Centre. More than 60 children took part in carom, chess and table tennis events. 
 
Prize distribution ceremony was held at Skills Development Centre on June 22 evening. KSQ president V S Mannangi, welcomed the gathering and thanked the parents for encouraging kids to take part in such competitions. A new edition to this year’s event “Quiz” competition selected from top 6 qualifiers from “Written Quiz” was held for senior category children. Winners of dancing and singing category from the previous week-end, performed again to the gathered audience.

Main attraction of the day was magic and shadow show from “Millenium Magic Award” winner Prahlad Acharya. A well-known illusionist “Houdini of India”  Acharya lived up to his reputation as a master entertainer. His shadow show received a standing ovation from the crowd. The  chief guest of the evening A K Srivastava, principal of Birla Public School appreciated the efforts of KSQ in giving opportunity to children and lauded Prahlad Acharya’s effort in keeping the dying art like “shadow show” alive.

Winners were presented with a trophy, a gift voucher and a certificate. All the children who participated in the talent search were also given a certificate and a gift by KSQ.
  
Arvind Patil, former president of KSQ, chairman of ISD and general secretary of ICBF, Arun Kumar, ex-president of KSQ, office-bearers and members of KSQ, Ravi Shetty, president of Bunts Qatar , Ramachandra Shetty, ex-President Tulu Koota Qatar, Prakash Chandra Ajila ex-president of Tulu Koota and vice-president Bunts Qatar were also present during the ceremony.

The main compere of the evening was Mysore Manjunath Rao who kept the audience occupied with his compering skills and he was ably supported by two children Harsha Patil and Sanjay Mannangi. KSQ general secretary Deepak Shetty proposed vote of thanks.

    Excellent Program, one more feather in the cap of KSQ. It really gave an opportunity to our kannadiga kids to show their talent.
