Mangalore, Jun 28: The divisional conference of Southern Railway Employees Union (DREU), Palakkad division, will be held at the Town Hall on Thursday June 28, informed secretary of the union P Mathew Syriac at a press meet here on Wednesday June 27.

The conference will see the participation of 7,150 employees of Palakkad division. Kasargod MP Karunakaran will inaugurate the conference. Central leaders of DREU R Elangovan, A Janakiraman, P V Ramadas, R G Pilla, K Ashokan, K Haridas, Southern Railway Palakkad Division DRM Piyush Agarwal, ADRM Mohan A Menon, and senior divisional personnel officer Govinda Karanavar will address the gathering. There will be a public meeting at 5 pm at Mangalore Railway station premises.
 
“This divisional conference is being held to further strengthen the struggle against the measures to privatize Indian railways,” added Syriac.
 
Union president K Mehaboobali and treasurer C Radhakrishnan were present at the press meet.
