BJP Crisis: Fresh Polls Best Way to Deal with Rebels - Advani

BJP Crisis: Fresh Polls Best Way to Deal with Rebels - Advani

Bangalore/New Delhi, Jul 2 (DHNS):
Bharatiya Janata Party patriarch L K Advani is understood to have advised central leaders of the party that dissolving the Assembly and seeking a fresh mandate in Karnataka was the best way to check the chronic rebellion in the party leading to the political instability in the State, but many of his colleagues differ.

Advani is said to have told central leaders that such a radical step would enable the party to retrieve lost ground and cut its losses in terms of image and electoral strength.

Dissolution of the Assembly could check blackmailing of the party by B S Yeddyurappa and his backers, and would also enable the party to reclaim the moral high ground.

However, the idea is not acceptable to many in the central leadership, as it is fraught with danger of an electoral defeat. Instead, the party top brass appears to be veering to replacing D V Sadananda Gowda with Jagdish Shettar as chief minister soon after the Presidential election.

“Keeping in view the extent of the rebellion and the support enjoyed by Yeddyurappa's camp, there seems to be no option but to agree to his demand that Shettar be made the Chief Minister. If we have to perform well in the next Assembly election, we will have to meet his demand,” a senior leader said. Elections in Karnataka are due in May next year.

Party state unit chief K S Eshwarappa, who has been insisting that Gowda won’t be removed as chief minister, said he would be happy if the next Assembly elections are held by December.

In Bangalore, Yeddyurappa and his backers upped the ante by setting July 5 as the deadline for the central leadership to remove D V Sadananda Gowda as chief minister.

Party general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Dharmendra Pradhan returned to Delhi after meeting both factions. He met BJP President Nitin Gadkari and senior leader Arun Jaitley and apprised them of the developments in Karnataka and the demands of both the Yeddyurappa and Gowda camps.

RSS intervenes

At their wits end over Yeddyurappa’s mutiny, the central leaders on Sunday asked the RSS to intervene and convince the former chief minister to defer his new deadline - July 5 - for a change in leadership.

Responding to the plea, The Karnataka leaders of RSS convened a meeting with Yeddyurappa, Chief Minister Sadananda, party state unit chief K S Eshwarappa and Rural Development Minister, and tried to convince them to keep peace in the party.

The RSS leaders are understood to have floated a compromise formula to persuade Yeddyurappa to ensure that the nine ministers loyal to him withdraw their resignations.

The RSS men told Yeddyurappa that the party high command was open for a discussion on the change of leadership in the state at the Karnataka core committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday. However, sources said ,Yeddyurappa did not promise any thing to RSS leaders on giving up his July 5 deadline.

Earlier in the day, in a meeting of MPs and MLAs of the Yeddyurappa camp held at Jagadish Shettar’s residence, decided to wait till 6 pm on July 5.

“The Central leadership will be responsible for developments in the State unit after July 5 if it does not accept our demand,” MP Suresh Angadi declared after the meeting.

Among steps that the dissidents are planning to take after the deadline include MPs faxing their resignation letters to the party national president Nitin Gadkari, 10 of its ministers submitting their resignation letters to the Governor and convening a parallel legislature party meeting and declaring Shettar as its leader. The meeting also resolved that they will stick to whatever decision Yeddyurappa and Shettar take in coming days.

The Yeddyurappa camp also flexed its muscle by claiming the support of 51 MLAs and 14 Lok Sabha MPs. Yeddyurappa, however, did not attend the meeting.

Gowda’s backers defiant

On the other side of the fence, minister Balachandra Jarkiholi met Sadananda Gowda and asked him not to give in to Yeddyurappa’s pressure. A group of party MLAs led by Jarkiholi has already declared that it would dislodge the government if Gowda is removed. Five independent MLAs too met Gowda and pledged their support to him.

The chief minister, who is scheduled to go to Delhi on Monday afternoon to attend the wedding reception of Nitin Gadkari’s son, is also likely to hold talks with party leaders on the political crisis back home.

    Hello dear Indians & Kannadigans,
What happened to you all. Have a positive attitude always. Mr. L K Advani is a senior and aged qualified politician in India. In his early days, he had some type of religious motives, neglected other religions.Hope he will surely bring together all religions by patriotic spirit and not by selfish personal religious motives. Then I am sure, he will be the fit person to rule India. Jai Hind.

Hello readers "Kuchh paanekeliye,Kuchh kona padtha hai".Under the present scenerio in Karnataka Government it better to dissolve the assembly and go for fresh mandate rather than issue to continue for ever.I do fully agree with Mr.Advaniji.We have to sacrifice in one way or other.Right decision by the right man at right time.I don't understand why Mr.Gowda to be replaced at this juncture when he is delivering a good governance, corrupt free, spotless administration. If people think sensibly, wisely there is no need at all to replace Mr.Gowda.Don't succumb to pressure tactise from rebellion group headed by Mr.yeddyurappa the big crook.

We all must learn a lot from this worst incident.

1.As per BJP slogan we are all Hindu and we are one. Where is that moral now? Only for the power, to make money and cheat public especially Hindus this is the slogan by BJP and their gang.

2.BJP always attacked other political parties saying that except them others are ruined and divided India. Let them understand that they are NOT able to keep any unity and faith between them and how they can bring unity in the country and develop the nation?

3.After all RSS always shown that they are highly disciplined soldiers of BJP and always do the best for the country. Now where are they and why they can NOT take definite action that ignores their command and the principle of the party? Do they scare or power greedy stupid’s?

4.BJP leaders are not able to control their own people and how they control or face international crisis? These people came to power just to cheat us, destroy other religions faith, make maximum money, and destroy the state and country.

I know many people are not willing to accept my opinion but if even BJP party members sit and think my point are they able to answer?

I am not against to any person or party but surely I hate the people who destroy other people’s faith, happiness, and way of living.

I will support them if they accepted their mistakes and correct them.

This is called experience ! Advani knows very well that the BJP under the leadership of Yeddiyurappa and Team have only one selfish Agenda "Power & Money" - nothing else. The development / welfare of the state & its people have been put on a back burner. Why do they want to dislodge the present CM (DVS) ?? Just because he is un corrupt and has been running the state efficentley, despite his hands being tied on account of the dissent ? Karnataka did well under the Congress (WhWhich party is not corrupt - let them cast the first stone !).The Appa / Magga combo set the downward trend in karnataka Politics). Fresh polls are the need of the hour. Let the people decide.

Advaniji thinks the citizens of Karnataka are brainless so that his followers can use tax payer's money according to politician's whims and fancies. We do not need elections over elections to deal with uncontrollable power struggle within your party. How long this may continue???!!!
Political uncertainty has led Karnataka in to economy and developments uncertainty.

Dear citizens kick out this power crazy bjp ruling Karnataka similar to
    BJP IN MANIPUR = ZEEEEEEEEERO
    TAMIL NADU = ZEEEEEEEEERO
    KERALA = ZEEEEEEEEERO
Why we have to compare bye elections to state wide bjp's track record which is ever ZEEEEEEEEERO.
Bye elections – bye bye bye.

The Best Solution at this Stage is to go for fresh mandate.

In Karnataka things have gone hay-wire down the line as BJP is heading for divide and Rebels within making things worse.

4 Years of BJP Rule Snapshot..

More than 20 BJP Ministers facing Corruption/Land Grabbing/De-Notification/Bribery Charges and Probe is underway and are regularly visiting courts for Bail

5 of them were Jailed and now out on Bail(Yeddy, Katta, Jagadish Katta, Krishnaiah Shetty and Y.Sampangi)

Illegal Mining Kingpin Janardhan Reddy Still in Jail

Porn Gate Episode, Halappa Rape Clip, Renukacharya Nurse Case / Liquor Supply.. never ending Kaarnamas..uff

People of Karnataka has now realized their mistake by voting BJP to power.

Earlier we fed up with Congress Govt though they got more than enough chance to improve the situation in Karnataka but in vain, then we choose JDS, surprisingly Appa, Maga spoiled the Karnataka Politics forever and then we choose BJP, but like rubbing salt on our wound, for last one year BJP Government running on life support ever since Yeddy removed from CM Post. If BJP Central Leadership knows very well that this BJP Government will not last long, then they have to take firm decision to dissolve the Government and go for fresh mandate and people of Karnataka will decide who will rule them next. Else situation like now will prevail for next one year too and development works will come to standstill
