Udupi: Lucky Escape for Family as Tree Falls on House

Udupi, Jul 2: Seven of a family had a lucky escape after a massive banyan tree uprooted owing torrential rains and fell on their house.

The incident took place at Uggelbettu, Uppoor near Brahmavar here on Monday July 2.

All seven, including aged Krishni Poojarthi, who were residing in the house escaped unscathed.

However, the house was badly damaged, with the tree breaking in from the roof and ruining all their belongings. The family is said to have suffered a huge loss in the incident.

MLA K Raghupati Bhat, revenue department officials and people’s representatives visited the family and assured compensation.
