Udupi, Jul 4: The farmlands on the plains across the coastal district were flooded on Tuesday July 3, due to torrential rains that have been lashing the Western Ghat region and Karnataka coast over the past two days.

Thousands of acres of paddy fields located in Chitrapady, Bannady, Uplady, Kartattu – Giliyaru and neighbouring villages were flooded.

The farmers who have just finished planting of saplings fear that the flood waters will wash away their toil and prospects of a better yield.
